HomeMy WebLinkAbout1984 11-06 CCM Special Session-Election Canvass MINUTES OF THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BROOKLYN CENTER IN THE COUNTY OF HENNEPIN AND THE SPATE OF MINNESOTA SPECIAL SESSION NOVEMBER 6, 1984 CALL TO ORDER The £ rooklyn Center City Council met in special session as an election canvass board and was called to order by Mayor Dean Nyquist at 11:45 p.m. ROL CALL Mayor Dean Nyquist, Councilmembers Gene Lhotka, Celia Scott, Bill Hawes, and Rich Theis. Also present were City Manager Gerald Splinter, Deputy Clerk Darlene Weeks, Clerk III Dolores Narey, and Administrative Assistant Tom Bublitz. CANVASS OF ELECTIONI RETURNS The Brooklyn Center City Council proceeded to canvass the City election returns at the various City precincts, reporting ballots cast in the City of Brooklyn Center contests as follows: Office of City Council Member Ballot Count William H. Hawes 5,896 Richard C. Theis 6,497 write- ins- Councilmember Marvin Puff 1 Art Shay 1 William Adler 1 Donald R. Benson 2 Ben Chatelle 1 Ron Blake 2 Maurice Britts 2 Mary Heitzig 1 RESOLUTION NO. 84 -170 Upon completing the election canvass member Gene Lhotka introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION REGARDINjG CANVASS OF NOVEMBER 6, 1984 GENERAL ELECTION The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Celia Scott, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Dean Nyquist, Gene Lhotka, Celia Scott, Bill Hawes, and Rich Theis; and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted. ADJOURN TFe was a motion by Councilmember Hawes and seconded by Councilmember Lhotka to adjourn the meeting. Voting in favor: Mayor Nyquist, Councilmembers Lhotka, Scott, Hawes, and Theis. Voting against: none. The motion passed unanimously. Brooklyn Center City Council adjourned at 11:48 p.m. ~` Deputy City Clerk - Mayo
