HomeMy WebLinkAbout2010 02-10 EACM EMPLOYEE ACTION COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES FEBRUARY 10, 2010 CALL TO ORDER: Vickie Schleuning called the EAC meeting to order at 9:04 A.M. on February 10, 2010 at EBHC. ROLL CALL: Present: Vickie Schleuning, Bruce Johnson, George Jennrich, Amy Phillips, Linda DeBace and Virginia Carter Absent: Jill Berger, Kristi Commers, Rick Nelson, Mark Reinking, Nancy Cary, Danna Mickelson and Paul Swett APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Approved OPEN/ONGOING BUSINESS: Bowling event was a fun event and great success. 24 people participated and they talked about the possibility of having this at least twice a year. Potential events will be discussed next month. Ideas for the All City Meeting (date not yet finalized) were discussed. We talked about having each department head providing update again for their department. Strategic goals passed by City Council New medical clinic opening this week at Brooklyn Center High School for students and families of students in Brooklyn Center. Financial Report: Jill not present EAC SUMMARY OF YEAR’S ACTIVITIES EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT: This remains very popular. February: Virginia Carter interviewed by Kristi Commers and March: Bob Traxler interviewed by Bruce Johnson. Sick Leave Donations: Nancy not able to work on sick leave donations. Will report at a future meeting. Safety Items: Most items have been taken care of. Vickie to look into the possibility of scheduling an H1N1 clinic for those employees who have not yet received their immunization. NEW BUSINESS: EAC Committee Members Being Replaced: Virginia Carter (Police) being replaced by Becky Boie Mark Reinking – A replacement is needed for this position Department News: Liquor Store: Store by Culvers cut back hours to 12:00 – 8:00 P.M. Earle Brown Heritage Center: Jim is covering the General Manager job until a new one is selected. Tara Meyer had a baby girl. Police: 4 new officers, Tom Boie has officially retired and a party is planned for him, Chief Bechthold and Virginia Carter are both retiring on 3/31/10, Carin Mangimeli, one of the CSO’s, has resigned and there are a couple more retirements scheduled for this summer. Jim Burnette is back working after an absence. Engineering/Public Works: Dave retiring after 35 years. There may be a problem finding a place to put snow if the snow continues. Legacy Funds for Shingle Creek ($105,000.00). Fire & Finance: No report Golf Course: Plans to open 4/15, weather permitting. Spring tournament is being planned. Stay tuned. Center Pointe (Now known as GATEWAY COMMONS) Renovation: This is going well. They have put up a fence which needs a remote to get into the parking lot. There are cameras in all public areas. Gateway Commons consists of 11 buildings and 240 units. New Phone System Being Installed: See your e-mail for training times. It should be up 3/16.
