ROLL CALL: Nicole Richards, George Jennrich, Rick Nelson, Linda DeBace, Nancy Cary, Paul Swett, Vickie Schleuning Absent: Amy Phillip, Jill Berger, Kristi Commers, Bruce Johnson, Steve Lawrence, Danna Mickelson APPROVAL OF MINUTES: None to approve. OPEN/ONGOING ISSUES Financial Report: Pretty much the same. Approximately $400 in the account. Fundraising Options: a. Happenings Books – Contact has been made with Happenings. A new person is the contact, the price is being increased by the company. Interest in purchasing the books as well as the concern over competing with the schools was discussed. Paul suggested we use a mass email if/when we launch the fundraiser to announce and raise interest. This will be discussed further once the cost of goods and the retail price have been confirmed. b. Employee Luncheon – Sub-committee has not met yet and still needs additional members to volunteer. Sub-committee needs to brainstorm ideas for where, what, when and how much will be charged to attend. Concerns regarding whether employees will participate at all and at what price some would decline. Ideas were shared about the use of city funds if it were deemed an “employee recognition” or “training” event. Nancy feels the cost will be a big factor in turnout. Vickie shared that a survey previously conducted, indicated more interest than actual turnout. Paul suggested that employees may be willing to pay a little more for an event off site where spouses could attend and could be more of a social event. A chili cook off, potluck, or pizza party were other ideas mentioned. This will be kept open and ongoing and additional ideas are encouraged. Secretary/Minute Taker: Nicole Richards volunteered to take over as Secretary. Employee Training: a.Dog Behavior & Defense Training – Feedback has been positive. Many felt the most interesting piece of information was regarding the part of the body the different breeds will go for based on their size and how they’ve been bred. Go low versus the jugular. b.Community Service Organization Training – Scheduled for September 15th. H.O.M.E. and CEAP will be sharing information about the services they offer to the community. This training is being offered to frontline employees, EAC members and any other interested employees. c.Other Training Ideas – Vickie suggested that there may be grants available for CPR training. Nancy also suggested defibrillator training. George is going to look into chainsaw training for next spring. Nancy suggested that if we do not already have someone on the staff certified to teach CPR, maybe it would be more cost effective in the long run to pay for the certification of a staff member to avoid outsourcing CPR training of City employees. It needs to be verified that we do not have someone on staff already certified (i.e. Fire Chief). th Golf Tournament Update: September 15 – 4:45pm. ‘Payable’ change made. Checks must be made out to BC Employee Fund. The game is “Best Ball” and there is still room for more players. Contact George if interested in playing.
