We discussed the best way to get the newsletter out to employees (i.e. hard copy or e-mail) or place a copy on bulletin boards in each department. This will be a question brought up in the City Manager’s employee survey. EMPLOYEE SURVEY – Another survey will be done in the near future by the City Manager. The question of the employee newsletter will be added along with a question on whether employees would be interested in social activities after working hours. Any other questions we want to add should go through Vickie. HOUSING PURCHASE PROGRAM – now available. Find information on Brooklyn Center website which is an excellent resource for residents and for employees. COMMUNITY SURVEY - Vickie discussed at length the results of the 2009 Community Survey. There were 400 residents polled and most said the City was doing a good job. Main concerns are: rising crime, foreclosure homes, redevelopment, property taxes, safety issues. Most feel it is neighborly and has a small town feel. 91% said they receive and read the City Watch. The Brooklyn Center City Hall received 91% approval for service and most feel the Mayor and City Council are knowledgeable and doing a good job. BC WEBSITE: Getting more hits than ever before. COUNCIL RETREAT – Vickie reported that it went very well. Looking at 5% decrease. 2010 will be a tight year as the city can’t rely on LGA funds.
