EAC MEETING
October 8, 2008
Earle Brown Center
The meeting was called to order by Vickie Schleuning at 9:10.
ABSENT: Jill Berger and Kristi Commers
MINUTES: Approved except for spotlight months
UPDATES:
EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT: Favorable response to spotlights so far. Jill will
do November, Vickie to look for who’s doing December, Virginia will do
Maria Rosenbaum in January. Form can be found on “s” Drive. Jill will
work on 1009 employee list.
ALL EMPLOYEE MEETING: Scheduled for 11/18 @ the Community
Center.
BLOOD DRIVE: Danna says she has checked and we just need to pick a
date. Decided on January 14, 2009 from 9-1:00 (over lunch time)
EAC MEMBERS (TERMS UP IN 2008): Committee members have been
asked to stay on if possible for another year as the committee is
functioning well. Will review next meeting.
HAPPENINGS BOOKS: Jill sold 21 of them for a total of $42.00.
EMPLOYEE GOLF: George said it was the biggest one ever! 46 people
participated! Nice job George and crew.
EMPLOYEE HOLIDAY LUNCHEON: We’re going with Lindy’s again this
year as the food last year was very tasty and the response was fairly
good. The date is December 16. Danna says the fliers are done and
labels are done.

FLU SHOT CLINIC: November 5, 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 P.M. Shots are
free to Health Partners members. Sign up on-line.
EMPLOYEE RECOGNITION: Vickie says people will be recognized at the
two all employee meetings. It will give other employees the chance to
recognize the recipients of the awards. This item will be discussed at
the Directors Meeting.
NEW EMPLOYEES: Discussed that new people start and few know who
they are. Talked about what departments do and the possibility that
new employees could be introduced at the all employee meetings.
Maybe add short bio in employee newsletter.
COMMUNICATION MEETING: A facilitator regarding effective
communication attended the Double Dozen supervisors meeting and
reviewed interpersonal relationship and communication styles. Vickie
said for the most part it was well accepted and it’s “on track”. The
communication facilitator is planned to present at the All Employee
Meeting. It needs to be confirmed yet.
DEPARTMENT NEWS: BC LIQUOR reports they’re having a food drive in
October. Bring in canned goods & sign up for a grill or a freezer. EARLE
Brown auction was very successful and the hotel is coming along.
Tenants moved out of D Barn which is going to be converted to a spa.
Hotel to open mid-summer. MAINTENANCE is draining the pool at the
Community Center (pool closed for 2 weeks). COMMUNITY
DEVELOPMENT reports an upswing in sales of foreclosed and
abandoned houses, lots of code enforcement and rental license issues.
Per Vickie, as of Monday vacant building ordinance & graffiti ordinance,
re-inspection fees, Center Pointe in receivership. Brookdale Mall: Lost
st
1 court proceeding w/Sears regarding WalMart, but may appeal. Steve
& Barry’s in receivership (they are now gone).
