CEAP EAC received a Thank You letter from CEAP. Brooklyn Center employees donated 242 lbs. of personal hygiene and household items. Thanks to everyone who participated! Patti will send e-mail to all employees thanking them on behalf of CEAP. Clickin’ on the Chicken Employees will be given another opportunity to help CEAP by . Thru May 31, 2004, Golden Plump Chicken will donate 1 lb. of chicken to local food shelves each time someone accesses their website and clicks on the chicken. Each person can click once each day. Patti will e-mail the website address to all employees. EAC reps for each department should encourage and remind employees in their departments to click on the chicken very day. FLOWERS Joyce Gulseth and Bill Vetter have been in contact with three organizations that would like to donate money to the city to be used to buy flowers this spring. All the city has to do is submit a letter to these organizations. Each organization wants to donate $100.00. This money will be used to purchase flowers for the planters in front of City Hall and the Community Center. Much discussion followed regarding how involved EAC wants to get with planting this year because it got overwhelming last year. Committee members will look into enlisting the help of Sentenced To Serve youth, local garden clubs, employee volunteers, etc. Planting cannot be done until mid-May, so a decision on what will be undertaken by EAC will be made at the April meeting. COOKBOOKS Mike McCauley likes the idea of putting together an employee cookbook. He said something could be worked out so that EAC could use City equipment to produce the books. EAC would have to reimburse the city for paper and toner and copying would have to be done during non-work hours. Several members brought samples of fundraiser cookbooks. They ranged from very simple to very elaborate. It was agreed that our cookbook would have to be simpler to keep costs down. Books would be sold to employees and possibly the public. Karen will check with Bob in Finance to see if there are any sales tax issues EAC needs to be aware of. Before moving any further on the cookbook idea, EAC members were asked to take an informal survey of their departments to judge what kind of interest there would be. Questions that should be asked are: Would you be likely to contribute a recipe? Would you be likely to purchase a copy of the book? How much would you be willing to pay for the book? In addition to recipes, the cookbook would contain a list of contributors, weights and measurement charts, etc. There was also discussion about holding a contest to design the cover, with the winner getting a free cookbook. Once feedback is received from the employee survey, EAC will make a decision on whether or not to proceed. EMPLOYEE APPRECITION PARTY Once again, the City Manager and Department Heads are discussing hosting an employee appreciation pizza party. EAC has been asked, and has agreed, to provide desserts. The pizza party would be held in late July. MOVIE TICKETS EAC can purchase discount movie tickets from AMC Theatres. However, a minimum of 50 tickets must be purchased at a time. EAC does not have the funds to purchase tickets in blocks of 50. Patti found out that discount tickets for movies and other events can be purchased from City, County, Federal Credit Union. Patti will check with them to see if anyone can purchase or if you have to be a member. EAC will try to work with the Credit Union to enable employees to purchase discount tickets through them. ERGONOMICS There is a link on Track-It, which addresses ergonomics in the workplace. The Safety Council also provides seminars on this issue, but you have to pay for them. MEDICA offers free seminars on various topics and Denise will check with them on doing a session on ergonomics. The next EAC meeting will be held on April 21, 2004, at 9:30 a.m. at the Police Department.
