EAC Meeting Notes
January 22, 2003
Present: Becky Boie, Denise Hanson, Mike Schlosser, Kristi Comers, Patti Page, Jeannine Pfann
Members introduced themselves.
Jeannine gave a brief overview of EAC. As chairperson, she promised to start the meetings promptly at
9:30 a.m., to keep them on track, and to try to make them fun. It was suggested that we take turns bringing
donuts to the meetings. Becky volunteered to bring donuts to the next meeting.
The following items were distributed:
List of 2003 EAC Members
2003 EAC Meeting Dates
Copy of EAC By-laws from 1997 and an updated version from 1999
The committee decided to have a different person take minutes at each meeting. We will go alphabetically
beginning with the February meeting. Ed Atanasoff will take minutes at that meeting. Jeannine took
minutes at today’s meeting.
It was also decided to continue rotating the meeting place to various city properties. The February meeting
will be held at the Police Department.
CEAP food drive has been increased from annually to semi-annually. EAC will sponsor drive in early February.
Employees will be asked to bring spaghetti sauce. Jeannine will provide flyer to payroll and coordinate with
CEAP for pick-up. City Manager has again agreed to bake cookies for the winning department.
We need permission from the City Manager to join the Shape Up Challenge. Registration deadline is Jan. 31.
Because Mike will not be back from vacation before then, Patti will ask Asst. City Manager for permission.
We are hoping that George will agree to head the Shape Up Challenge again this year. Jeannine will check
with him when he gets back from vacation on Monday, Jan. 27. If he is not interested, Denise has
volunteered to take over. We need someone to attend the Kick-Off meeting on February 19.
EAC members will check with their departments to see if there is any interest in doing another logo clothing
sale this year. We will try to offer departments individual logos. Members will bring feedback to next EAC
meeting.
All of the feedback from the Holiday Party has been very positive. We will continue to have the Holiday
Party catered. Barnacle Bill’s is very interested in working with us again.
EAC will give City Manager the go ahead to check on a vending machine contract that would give the profits
for sales to EAC. Committee would like to keep pop prices the same, or only slightly increased. Will this
vending contract only cover pop machines or will it include snack machines as well? Jeannine will check with
City Manager.
EAC is not interested in handling the annual United Way campaign.
EAC will offer the sale of discounted Happenings Books to employees this fall.
Expanding EAC activities to include after work events was discussed. Kristi volunteered to check with other
cities to see what kind of activities they offered and what kind of participation they have. She will report
on her findings at the February meeting.
The next meeting will be February 19, 2003, in the Case Management Room at the Police Department.
