HomeMy WebLinkAbout2003 02-19 EACM EAC Meeting Notes February 19, 2003 Present: Jeannine Pfann, Patti Page, Kristi Comers, Tracy Bushinger, and Becky Boie Jeannine called the meeting to order at 9:30. Members introduced themselves. Jeannine gave a quick overview of last months meeting. Permission was granted by City Manager to participate in Shape-Up again this year. Denise and George attended that meeting today (2/19/03). Patti brought a Back to the Basics form. EAC decided that Shape-Up and Back to the Basics were very similar and that we would stick to Shape-Up for this year. Discussed issue of vending machines. Jeannine will get clarification of whether or not snack machines would be included. Lots of discussion on this issue, we will continue discussions and move towards a decision. CEAP food drive—152 jars of spaghetti sauce was donated (1/2 of what we wanted). But great job for everyone who donated. Thanks. We will look into doing to another food drive in the Fall of 2003. Kristi was left with the task of finding out what other cities were doing to heighten after work events with their employees. Brooklyn Park—does CEAP food drives, other events have fizzled out. Coon Rapids—Very active, United Way, bake sales, auctions, to raise money for activities such as going to the Murder Mystery Theater, Moonlight Bowling, caves of St. Paul is being planned. Fundraising is achieved with profits from vending machines, bake sales, etc. Employee outings are partially subsidized by these proceeds. Fridley—also very involved with employee outings. Some type of activity every month (space clean-up) picnics, golf tournaments, Halloween lunch, etc. Plymouth—had employee recognition, but it died out. Also discussed was the possibility of joining up with other cities to participate in activities such as softball or bowling. This received a great response by the EAC members and will be looked into further. We had a positive response for sending meeting minutes to all Brooklyn Center Employees. We will continue to forward these on after they have been read and approved by the EAC. Whoever takes meeting notes is responsible for e-mailing them to everyone.
