HomeMy WebLinkAbout2003 05-21 EACM EAC MEETING MINUTES MAY 21, 2003 CITY GARAGE Jeannine Pfann, Tara Jude, Patti Page, George Jennrich, Members Present: Gary Gilpin, Becky Boie, Denise Hanson It was agreed that the interest and participation was Shape Up Challenge: low this year, and next year’s committee should decide if they want to continue the program. Only 13% of the city’s employees participated. There has been a positive response from businesses and Flowers: individuals in the area for donating flowers to be planted around City Hall and Central Park. Volunteers will be needed to help plant. The 2003 employee picnic will be held on July 8, 2003 at Employee Picnic: the City Garage. Department heads have generously volunteered to provide and cook the food, and the EAC members will bring dessert items. A flyer will be printed up and distributed by the EAC. Tara Jude’s “Operation Shoebox” was a great success. Operation Shoebox: 30 full shoeboxes have been collected and are to be shipped out to Minnesota military units next week. Donations can still be made by going to the “Operation Shoebox” web site. Patti Page inquired about employee discount tickets Renaissance Festival: for the Renaissance Festival, and can get tickets for a substantially reduced price. Patti will order some to start out with, and can order as many as needed according to employee interest. Details will be in the June newsletter. Tara Jude checked into having the Bloodmobile come to Bloodmobile: Brooklyn Center. It would be held in front of the Community Center, with check-in and conference interviews being held at Constitution Hall. They need a minimum of 20 people to donate, but prefer up to 40. Blood donations can take up to 45 minutes per person, and need to be done by appointment. They have dates available during July, and Tara will have details in the June newsletter. Discount books were received at the Community Valleyfair Coupon Books: Center and were distributed to departments via EAC members. Because of the interest and popularity of last year’s golf Golf Outing: outing, another one will be organized and scheduled by George Jennrich and Gary Gilpin. The 2003 outing will be held after leagues end in September. th Next meeting will be held June 18 at 9:30 a.m. at the EBHC.
