Minutes of 8/20/03 meeting: No changes were made to the minutes. Golf Outing Recap: There were 29 participants in the golf outing this year. Attendance was down a little from last year which could be attributed to the fact that the police officers recently participated in two other golf tournaments. Everyone had a good time even though it rained. Congratulations to the club house team for winning the tournament. Fall Food Drive for CEAP: There was a discussion regarding how each department was doing with the food drive. It was noted that a couple of the departments collect money from anyone that wants to donate and then one person buys the food for the food drive. These departments seem to get much more participation in the food drive. Patti Page will contact CEAP to pick up the food from CARS, Administration and EBHC. Each EAC representative should e-mail their final totals to Patti Page along with the number of people in their department. Toys for Tots: Becky Boie noted that the boxes will be out the day after Thanksgiving and the delivery date will be December 15, 2003. Holiday Luncheon: Tara Jude stated she has booked Constitution Hall on Wednesday, December 10 from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. It was decided that lunch would be served beginning at 11 a.m. Menu suggestions and pricing will be brought to the next EAC meeting. Robin Hartfiel stated there was left over money from the golf outing and she would find out what the current balance is in the EAC fund. Denise Hanson stated she still had $10 left over from the Shape Up Challenge. There was a discussion of door prizes and the money available for door prizes. It was decided that $100 would be spent on door prizes this year. George Jennrich arrived at 9:55 a.m. Frosty Challenge: The Frosty Challenge information from Hennepin County was reviewed and discussed. It was decided that EAC would not participate this year. There was a discussion regarding discontinuing the Shape Up Challenge in the spring and possibly participating in the Frosty Challenge next winter. There was a discussion about the possibility of EAC developing it’s own program or helping Human Resources facilitate some wellness programs. Golf Outing (continued): George Jennrich stated there was $29.06 left over from the golf outing. Robin Hartfiel stated Finance needs a bill for the greens fees. George Jennrich noted that even though it rained all the participants seemed to have a good time. Big Brothers/Big Sisters School Based Mentoring Program: Tara Jude stated after reviewing the materials for this program she believed it was a large time commitment and did not believe EAC could take it on. She noted that they wanted each volunteer to give one hour each week throughout the school year. This hour must take place at the school and be scheduled before, during or after school. Next Meeting: The next meeting will be held on October 15, 2003 at the Police Department. Adjournment: The meeting adjourned at 10:10 a.m.
