HomeMy WebLinkAbout2002 03-20 EACM EMPLOYEE ACTION COMMITTEE MINUTES FROM MARCH 20, 2002 ROLL CALL: Gary Coleman, Jenny Whiting, Ed Atanasoff, Jeannine Pfann, Diane Willgohs, Gary Gilpin, Kristi Commers, Robin Hartfiel, and Dave Valker. SHAPE UP 2002 The subcommittee met (George, Maria, Gary Coleman, and Jenny) at the golf course. Jenny handed out the flyer about shape up. This flyer will be sent out with the next paychecks. Maria sent the City Manager an email about money for prizes and the picnic. Maria did not get a response back yet. Gary Coleman will talk to the City Manager about money for prizes. Jenny also handed out flyers for each week of shape up. It’s the responsibility of the team captains to give their team the information. Participants will give the team captains their points on Monday before noon, so the team captains can call George with the points. st 1 week-Team potluck; your team will bring in healthy snacks. nd 2 week-Mile walk; same as last year. Jenny will talk to Mark Booth about marking the course. rd 3 week-Earth clean up day; clean up Brooklyn Center. th 4 week-Poker walk; Robin will ask Kelly Wick for the cards for the poker walk. Jenny will send out info on poker run and sign up sheets. th 5 week-Brown bag seminar; presentation at the Fire Department on Wednesday, bring bag lunch. Gary Coleman will send out info. th 6 week-Team selects activity; be creative. The first three weeks are set. Next meeting we will discuss the remaining weeks for shape up. PICNIC th Dave booked Constitution Hall for June 27 for the picnic in case of rain. Hopefully construction will be done by then. If not EBHC is being considered, but in case of rain where would we go? There would be a room rental charge. Jeannine will check on cost or see if we can go in the lower level at no cost. Maybe we can have the picnic at the garage, clear out part of the garage or possibly at the fire station? Keep on agenda for next meeting for more discussion. HOLIDAY PARTY Consider having holiday party catered. Jenny handed out a menu from Lynde’s Catering. Buffet style, paper plates, etc. Cost did not include tax and gratuity. Maybe have potluck desserts since it was not included in the menu. Cost was $8.25-10.50, cheaper than EBHC. Try to get more menus and cost from caters for next meeting. Remember buffet style, paper plates, and simple. Need to keep food warm for two different shifts. Keep on agenda for next meeting. CEAP Have each department see how many pounds of food they can collect for CEAP. Maybe a chili contest. Charge $5.00 to all city employees who want to taste the chili and have them pick the best chili. Winner wins a prize and the money collect for tasting the chili would go to CEAP. TOYS FOR TOTS Gary Coleman will be taking care of it. BROWN BAG SEMINAR EMPLOYEE CLOTHING Order employee clothing in spring and fall. Dave will be out for a few months, so he suggested ordering clothing in the fall. There may be some interested in ordering clothing this spring. Dave will give info to Robin to pick out some items of clothing so an order can be placed this spring. Pick out: light weight jackets, denim shirts, t-shirts, golf shirts, and hats. Talk to Mark Booth about last order and any insight. Does city manager need to approve items? Ed will help Robin pick out clothing items. Maria received a flyer from a company from Oklahoma; it was decided to order clothing with a local company. Remember to post agenda and minutes from EAC in your department. th Next meeting will be Wednesday, April 17 at 9:30 a.m. at the Fire Department.
