SHAPE UP 2002 George attended a training workshop on February 19` at Ridgedale Library with other cities and businesses. He received a packet of info for the challenge and will route the information to the committee members for review. Shape Up 2002 runs for six weeks, beginning April 8 Points are received by eating five fruits and vegetables a day; exercise for 30 minutes; self -care and social relaxing. Each week points will be given to team captains (EAC member) and they will give George the points to keep track of. Need six ideas one for each week. Some suggestions were: kick off breakfast; poker run; speaker in aerobics, yoga (Dave will talk to someone in community recreation regarding aerobics), and message therapist. Subcommittee: Gary, George, Maria, Jenny and Ed. They will meet next week to get things going. Maria will check with City Manager regarding funds for prizes and ordering some materials. PICNIC Dudley will be June 21 -23 and Earle Brown Days June 27 -30. In the past we have had the picnic the beginning of Earle Brown Days. Dave suggested Thursday, June 27` The picnic tables will be out still from the Dudley. Need to book Constitution Hall in case of rain. Maria will send memo to City Manager regarding date of picnic, cost, and update him on the EAC meeting. Dave will book Constitution Hall, check to see if it will be open (currently Community Center under construction). Jeannine handed out a menu form Flik Catering. The cost went up this year to $9.95 a person (last years cost $8.45 a person). To save cost maybe we could have the picnic at EBHC ($300 for grill and truck rental). We will not have door prizes at the picnic; instead we will have door prizes at the holiday PAY• There were 150 people who attended last years picnic. There is $133.31 in the EAC fund. HOLIDAY PARTY Jeannine handed out a few menus from Flik Catering. Ninety people signed up for the holiday party last year. EAC members will collect menus and cost from other caterers (cost for 100 people) and bring to the next meeting. Some ideas: Nature's Hideway, Famous Dave's, and Lookout. Ed suggested the employees do the cooking, but others wanted no fuss. CkEAP This is a holiday event, we have time to plan. Put on agenda for next meeting. TOYS FOR TOTS This is a holiday event, we have time to plan. Put on agenda for next meeting. BROWN BAG SEMINARS Not enough people interested in brown bag seminars. May not have them anymore. We will see in the fall. Some suggestions for a topic from the survey that was taken last fall were investing and retirement. Maria brought in a brochure from Three Sons Kitchen in Minneapolis that we could possibly use for the brown bag seminars. EMPLOYEE CLOTHING Dave received catalogs from Sue Fogal. He will go thru the catalogs and pick out some items that may be of some interest to order. Dave will put together some info for the next meeting. A suggestion was made on placing orders in the spring and the fall. It would be nice if all employees could get clothing allowance! GOLF OUTING George will put together a golf outing in the fall for all employees (after all the leagues are done). Employee would pay for the green fees. Hotdogs and chips will be sold. Clubs may be borrowed. Prizes given away (golf balls). George will organize this in July. Plans for EAC this year, Shape Up 2002 - spring; picnic - summer; golf outing -fall; and holiday party- winter. Next meeting will be March 20`" at 9:00 a.m. at the Police station.
