April 16, 1999
Those present: Nancy Wojcik, Al Hartman, George Jenrich, Marc Booth, Steve Barrett, Shelli
Regnier.
Absent: Ron Boman, Gary Coleman, Carol Holt, Julie Melby, Kelli Wick
Approval of the Minutes
The March 19, 1999, EAC minutes were approved.
Recording Secretary
Shelli Regnier has volunteered to be the new recording secretary.
Discussion of memo to be submitted to Ci1y Manager regarding Sunshine Fund
We have decided it would be best if we did not get involved in this type of fund.
Spring Brown Bag Lunch seminar planning
It is set for April 29, 1999. Jane Chambers will speak for a few minutes on Y2K
progress here, then we will have Kent Sulem from the League of MN Cities talking
about Y2K issues at the work place and home. Schlotsky's Deli will supply the
bag lunch. Sign up sheets were passed out April 16 to each dept to be turned into Nancy
Wojcik by April 27, 1999.
Employee Appreciation Picnic
It will be held Friday June 18, 1999, from 11:00a.m to 1:30p.m. in Central Park. If it rains
we do have Constitution Hall reserved as backup. We will use the same caterer as last year.

Department/Division Updates
Fire Department
The Fire Dept. has a new salvage truck that is being pinstripped and painted. It should be in
in service in 2 weeks. The new West Station will be ready to have the floor poured in about
about a week but are still behind schedule. The East Station is about 2 months behind schedule.
Streets
Sweeping is in full swing. We used 1325 tons of salt used this winter. The safety audit &
simulated OSHA inspection for the garage is done, everything went pretty well with some
minor problems to fix. We will be upgrading records and doing some more documentation &
training as suggested in the inspection. Still hauling dirt from 53rd & Bellvue. The sign
shop has all the new city limit signs in place now. They are ready to stripe and have some new
flourescent school signs up around town. The new database software is up and running. And
we also have a new used bulldozer.
Parks
They are in process of seeding and grading all rink areas. Park improvement projects at Bellvue
and Firehouse park are under way. 69th ave parkway by W Palmer Lk is getting the fence
painted. The Adopt A Park program is ready to go. The official city park and trailway cleanup is
set for April 24th & 25th.
Utilities
The Scada system is in place and there is some fine tuning going on there. Nextell is putting up
an antenna on top of water tower on 69th & Dupont. City wide flushing will start April 25. The
Consumer Confidence Report (federally mandated) did a data collection and we are in
compliance with them, the notice on that will go out by July. Lifts 8 & 9 replaced now.
Golf Course
There were some trees from Westbrook Mall that were transplanted to the Golf Course. The
course is open as of March 20!!!!!! We have had about 2000 rounds played so far. Most of the
leagues are filled now, the junior golf program is a big hit this year. Aaron Shephard is the new
teaching pro at Centerbrook. He has worked on the grounds here, driving range at Edinborough
and most recently at Friendship Hill is California.
Engineering
Project 1999A should be starting soon, Widmer got the bid for that. Survey crew is out putting
up stakes already. Resurfacing is being done between John Martin Dr and Earle Brown Dr.
Administration
No report. this time.
Assessing
Value notices were
mailed and most people le saw an increase. The lots at Bellvue Lane have all
been sold and people are on a waiting list in case a closing falls through.
Heritage Center
Nothing new to report at this time.

Finance
Congratulations to Bob Sundberg, who is now the Asst. Finance Director. We are now looking
to fill his position as Staff Acct. The first leg of the audit is over, the auditors will be back in a
week to finish the second half.
Police
No report at this time.
