HomeMy WebLinkAbout1999 12-17 EACM e EAC Meeting Minutes December 17, 1999 Those present: Nancy Wojcik, George Jenrich, Shelli Regnier, Kelli Wick, Jean Gould, Al Hartmann, Gary Coleman, Marc Booth. Absent: Ron Boman, Carol Holt Approval of the Minutes The November 22, 1999 EAC minutes were approved. Toys for Tots We discussed that all boxes would be picked up on Mon. Dec 20 and brought to Kare 11 by the police. CEAP Food Drive Nancy advised she would be bringing all food donations to CEAP in Brooklyn Park next week. Next Years EAC Committee Everyone who is done on the committee this year advised of their replacement. Mike McCauley will send out a letter to each new member acknowledging their service to the committee. A HUGE thanks to Nancy Wojcik who was the president this year and whose term is up. She did a lot of work as president. Thank you to all the members who have served this year. Whether you will be back next year or have a replacement, it has been a pleasure getting to know people from other departments and working together. Holiday Luncheon Final arrangements and job duties were assigned. It will be held on Monday Dec. 20. Thank you to Jane Chambers who will be playing piano for our enjoyment. Department/Division Updates Fire Department The West Station should be ready for move in on Monday Dec. 20. Streets Doing equipment preparations on the plows, blowers, etc. We are trimming all sidewalk trees. As for Y2K, there will be people on duty at the garage along with people on standby. That goes for all employees who work out at the garage. The sign shop is busy putting up new circle route signs that are red, green and white and have a design on them that is called a cupola which is supposed to look like the old coliseum dome from the farm with a weather vane on it. There will be 30 of those put up. There will be about 40 new green and white street signs that will be in the new 10 inch format in the project area. There are a total of approx. 650 street signs total in the city. They will begin work on the summer equipment and should be getting a new front end loader any day now. Parks They are starting to do some flooding of rinks on the primary rinks in the city, not sure if they will be ready for Christmas yet or not. There are 2 new shelters up, 1 at Lions Park and 1 at Central Park. There is a new stone /iron fence on 53rd. Utilities Tower #2 is still out of service, they are doing some inside repairs but maybe within 2 -3 weeks it will be operating again. Finishing sewer cleaning and the known problem areas have been cleaned. Roots are a constant problem. Wells 5 & 6 are in the process of being remodeled. Golf Course The course is now closed!!!! They are remodeling the shop right now. Engineering Working on next summers construction plans. Administration The contract for the 49ers has been settled but the Teamsters contract is currently in negotiations. Still looking for Full Time Crew Chief and Custodian. Assessing Nothing new at this time. Heritage Center No report at this time. Finance Nothing new at this time. Police Everyone is now in at the Police Dept. The jail is not finished yet. They are still looking for Police Officers, Dispatch Supervisors and a Sergeant. Happy Holidays to everyone and the next meeting will be in January with the new members present. Nancy will send out an email advising everyone of the information. Public Works Activites 1/21/2000 Street Dept. • Snow and ice control -to this date out 20 times last year, 17 times this year so far. Salt useage is on track at approx 740 tons. • Sidewalk tree trimming • Fluorescent Yellow Green sign replacement -Ped Xings, School X -ings, and Down Arrows. FWHA Program supplied almost 200 new signs @ cost of over $12,000. • Circle Route Signs/Ungraded Street Signs -40 CR, 50 Upgraded in project areas. • New Cat 950B Loader and Wing & New patching Hot Box Park Dept. • Hockty and Skating Rinks In full swing, good ice now! • Assist in snow and ice control • Bleacher retro fit - Bleacher Act of 1999, No more than 4" between boards on any unit over 30" high. Central and Evergreen are being refitted and the rest of the parks will be scaled down to meet the 30" limit (3 row units). • Planning for 2000 improvements -New Picnic Gazebos @ Firehouse and Happy Hollow, finish ballfields @ Central Park, Playground improvements such as swingset upgrade in 6 parks. Utilities (Water and Sewer) • Normal service and maintenance at wells, towers. and lifts. • Tower 2 (69th and Dupont) - Back on line after maint and war. work • Water Main break na 7001 Dallas Rd on Tuesday 18th Jan Q • Well 6 on 69th between Dupont and Humboldt remodel almost done.
