HomeMy WebLinkAbout1981 11-03 CCM Special Session-Election Canvass MINUTES OF THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BROOKLYN CENTER IN THE COUNTY OF HENNEPIN AND THE STATE OF MINNESOTA SPECIAL SESSION NOVEMBER 3, 1981 CITY HALL CALL TO ORDER The City Council met in special session as election canvass board and was called to order by Mayor Dean Nyquist at'9:03 p.m. ROLL CALK Mayor Dean Nyquist, Councilmembers Tony Kuefler, Bill Fignar, Gene Lhotka, and Celia Scott. Also present were City Manager Gerald Splinter, City Assessor Peter.Koole, and Administrative Assistants Brad Hoffman and Tom Bublitz. CANVASS OF ELECTION R ETURNS The City Council proceeded to canvass the City election returns at the various City precincts, reporting ballots cast in the City of Brooklyn Center contests as follows: Office of Mayor Ballot Count Dean A. Nyquist 2062 Office of City Councilmember William H. Hawes 1545 Carol J. Smith 869 Richard C. Theis 1662 Joseph Zelinsky 490 write -ins -Mayor Mary Heitzig 2 Frank Quigley 1 Phil Cohen 1 Jean Scheibel 2 June Foslein 1 Maurice Britts 4 " Dave Skindelie 1 Tony Kuefler 4 Bill Fignar 1 John Kightlinger 1 write- ins- Councilmember Jack Boldischar l Janelle Johnson _ 1 Barbara Jensen 2 Mary Heitzig 2 Vince Tubman 2 Maurice Britts 1 Mona Hintzman 2 11 -3 -83 -1- RESOLUTION NO. 81 -212 Upon completing the election canvass member Gene Lhotka introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION REGARDING CANVASS OF NOVEMBER 3, 1981 CITY ELECTION The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Celia Scott, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Dean Nyquist, Tony Kuefler, Bill Fignar, Gene Lhotka, and Celia Scott; and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted. i •. ADJOURNMENT There was a motion by Councilmember Kuefler and seconded by Councilmember • Lhotka to adjourn the meeting. Voting in favor: Mayor Nyquist, Councilmembers Kuefler, Fignar, Lhotka, and Scott; voting against: none, the motion passed' unanimously.
