SPECIAL SESSION
DECEMBER 8, 1980

CALL TO ORDER
The Brooklyn Center City Council met in a special closed session called by
the City Attorney and was called to order by Mayor Dean Nyquist at 11:12 p.m.
ROLL CALL
Mayor Dean Nyquist, Councilmembers Tony Kuefler, Bill Fignar, Gene Lhotka,
and Celia Scott. Also present were City Manager Gerald Splinter, City
Attorney Richard Schieffer, Director of Planning and Inspections Ron Warren,
and Administrative Assistant Tom Bublitz.
JOGODKA COURT CASE
The City Attorney discussed the Jogodka case with Council members and stated
that the issue before the Council this evening was to determine whether the
Council would entertain a settlement offer in the case if the settlement
offer equaled the cost of a trial and also whether the Council would enter -
tain a similar offer for the Attorney representing the two Brooklyn Center
officers involved in the case.
After a discussion by Council members, there was a motion by Councilmember
Kuefler and seconded by Councilmember Fignar to grant the City Attorney and
- City Manager authority to enter into a settlement agreement or to reject a
decision on a settlement on the Jogodka case. Voting in favor: Mayor
Nyquist, Councilmembers Kuefler, Fignar, Lhotka, and Scott. Voting against:
none, the motion passed unanimously.
ADJOURNMENT
There was a motion by Councilmember Lhotka and seconded by Councilmember
Kuefler to adjourn the meeting. Voting in favor: Mayor Nyquist, Council-
members Kuefler, Fignar, Lhotka, and Scott. Voting against: none, the
motion passed unanimously. The Brooklyn Center City Council adjourned at
11-25 p.m.
