HomeMy WebLinkAbout1977 11-08 CCM Special Session-Election Canvass MINUTES OF THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BROOKLYN CENTER IN THE COUNTY OF HENNEPIN AND THE STATE OF MINNESOTA SPECIAL SESSION NOVEMBER 8, 1977 CITY HALL Call to Order The City Council met in special session as an Election Canvass Board at 8 :30 p.m. Moll Call Mayor Cohen, Councilmen Britts, Fignar, Kuefler, and Lhotka. Also present were City Manager Gerald Splinter and City Clerk Al Lindman . Canvass of City The City Council proceeded to canvass the City election Election Returns returns at the various City precincts, reporting ballots cast in City of Brooklyn Center contests as follows: Office of Mayo Ballot Count Maurice Britts 3,097 Dean Nyquist 3,136 Philip Cohen (write -in) 3 Office of Councilman Ballot Count Gerald Pedlar 2,918 Cecilia Scott 3,256 Upon completing the election canvass member Bill Fignar introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION RESOLUTION REGARDING CANVASS OF NOVEMBER 8, 1977 NO. 77 -222 CITY ELECTION The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Tony Kuefler and upon vote being taken thereon the following voted in favor thereof: Philip Cohen, Bill Fignar, Tony Kuefler, and Gene Lhotka; and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was duly passed and adopted. Britts abstained. Adjournment Motion by Councilman Kuefler and seconded by Councilman Britts to adjourn the meeting. Voting in favor were: Philip Cohen, Maurice Britts, Bill Fignar, Tony Kuefler, and Gene Lhotka. Voting against: none. The motion passed unanimously. The City Council meeting as a Canvass Board adjourned at 9 :26 p.m. 70 - LI Z &— i Clerk Mayor
