HomeMy WebLinkAbout1972 09-12 CCM Special Session-Election Canvass I Minutes of the Proceedings of the City Council Of the City of Brooklyn Center In the County of Hennepin and State of Minnesota September 12, 1972 The City Council met in special session as an Election Canvass Board at 8:45 P. M. Roll Call: Mayor Cohen, Councilmen Leary, Ausen, Heck and Britts. Also present were: City Manager Donald Poss and City Clerk Allen Lindman. The City Council proceeded to canvass the Primary Election returns at the various City precincts, reporting ballots cast in City of Brooklyn Center contests as follows: Candidates for the Two Office of City Councilmen Ballot Count Tony Kuefler 1,680 Bill Fignar 1,380 Jack Welsh 1,045 Carl H. Gross 753 Donna Oman 461 Clarence J. Lewis 315 Referendum Question Ballot Count Shall special licenses be granted for the YES 1,839 sale of intoxicating liquor between the hours of 12:00 o'clock noon and midnight on NO 651 Sundays at hotels, restaurants and clubs in the City of Brooklyn Center? Upon completing the election canvass, Member Vernon Ausen introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 72-164 RESOLUTION REGARDING CANVASS OF SEPTEMBER 12, 1972 CITY PRIMARY ELECTION BE IT RESOLVED that it is hereby determined upon official canvass that Tony Kuefler, Bill Fignar, Jack Welsh, and Carl H. Gross are declared to be the suc cussful candidates for two offices of City Councilmen of the City of Brooklyn Center and that their names be offered on the General Election ballot for November 7, 1972. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the question: SHALL SPECIAL LICENSES BE GRANTED FOR THE SALE OF INTOXICATING LIQUOR BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 12:00 O'CLOCK NOON AND MIDNIGHT ON SUNDAYS AT HOTELS, RESTAURANTS AND 'CLUBS IN THE CITY OF BROOKLYN CENTER? is hereby determined upon official canvass to be affirmative. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member John Leary, and upon vote being aken thereon the following voted g g in favor thereof: Philip Cohen, John Leary, Vernon Ausen, Howard Heck and Maurice Britts; and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted. Motion by Councilman Heck and seconded by Councilman Britts to adjourn the meeting. Voting in favor were: Mayor Cohen, Councilmen Leary, Ausen, Heck and Britts. Voting against: none.
