HomeMy WebLinkAbout1971 02-23 CCM Special Session-Election Canvass Minutes of the Proceedings of the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center in the County of Hennepin and State of Minnesota. February 23, 1971 The City Council met in special session on behalf of the Hennepin County Auditor as an Election Canvass Board and was called to order by Mayor Philip Cohen at 8:20 P.M. Roll Call Philip Cohen, John Leary, Howard Heck and Vernon Ausen were present. Also present were: Donald G. Poss, Allen S. Lindman, and Thomas Loucks. The Mayor announced that the order of business consisted of the consideration of the returns of the election conducted on February 23, 1971. The City Council then proceeded to canvass the special election returns at the various City precincts. Upon completing the canvass, the Canvass Board reported that ballots were cast as follows: "Shall the County of Hennepin, Ballot count pu'-suant to authority granted by Chapter 738, Laws of Minnesota, 1963, Section 5, borrow money and issue its general obligation bonds in an amount not exceeding $18,000,000 for the purpose of acquisition of facilities for Hennepin County General Hospital ?" Yes 654 No 2759 Motion by Howard Heck and seconded by John Leary that the meeting be adjourned. Voting in favor were: Philip Cohen, Johen Lary, Howard neck and Vernon Ausen. Voting against were: none. Motion carried unanimously. The City Council meeting as a Canvass Board adjourned at 9 :20 P.M. February 23, 1971. Clerk Mayor I
