HomeMy WebLinkAbout1971 10-06 CCM Special Session Minutes of the Proceedings of the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center In the County of Hennepin and State of _1 October 6, 1971 The City Council met in special session and was called to order by Mayor Philip Cohen at 10:10 P.M. following an informal meeting with the Planning Commission, Roll Call: Mayor Cohen,, Councilmen Ausen, Heck and Willard. Also present were: City Manager Donald Poss, and Administrative Assistant Blair Tremere. Motion by Councilman Heck and seconded by Councilman Ausen to reconvene the 1972 budget hearings. Voting in favor were: Mayor Cohen, Councilmen Ausen Heck and Willard. Voting against: none. Motion carried unanimously, The City Manager briefly reviewed a memorandum from the Director of Finance outlining the various actions which had been taken during the budget hearings. He stated that changes to the proposed budget included an increase In the sales tax revenue estimate by $18,998 and an increase in the dice pension contribution of $2 He noted that the tax levy collectible in 1972 has been reduced by $21..849. 00 from that which was originally proposed. He further stated that if the budget were adopted in its present form the 1972 mill rate would be 48.6 mills or , 89 mills less than the proposed budget, Member Howard Heck introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 71 -193 RESOLUTION TO ADOPT THE 1972 BUDGET The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Theodore Willard, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof Philip Cohen, Vernon Ausen, Howard Heck and Theodore Willard; and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted„ Member Howard Heck introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 71-194 RZBOLUTI04N ZOAUTHORIZE A TAX LEVY FOR 1972 BUIJ ET APPRO- .' Member Howard Heck introduced the following resolution and moved its adopted. RESOLUTION NO. 71 -197 RESOLUTION TO CANCEL LEVY PREVIOUSLY CERTIFIED TO THE COUNTY AUD OR The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Theodore Willard, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Philip Cohen, Vernon Ausen, Howard Heck and Theodore Willard; and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted. Member Vernon Ausen introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 71 -198 RESOLUTION TO CANCEL LEVY PREVIOUSLY CERTIFIED TO THE COUNTY AUDITOR The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Theodore Willard, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Philip Cohen, Vernon Ausen, Howard Heck and Theodore Willard; and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted. Member Howard Heck introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 71 -199 RESOLUTION CERTIFYING DELINQUENT NOXIOUS WEED CUTTING ACCOUNTS FOR 1971 T IN COUNTY M ROLLS The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Theodore Willard, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Philip Cohen, Vernon Ausen, Howard Heck and 'Theodore Willard; following voted against the same: none whereupon said resolution was and the Po g r declared duly passed and adopted. Motion by Councilman Willard and seconded by Councilman Ausen to officially close the 1972 budget hearings. Voting in favor were; Mayor Cohen, Councilmen Ausen, Heck and Willard. Voting against: none. Motion carried unanimously. Motion by Councilman Heck and seconded by Councilman Willard to adjourn the special Council meeting. Voting in favor were.
