Of the City of Brooklyn Center In the County of
Hennepin and Sta12 of Minnesota
November 2, 1971
The City Council met in special session as an Election Canvass Board
and was called to order by Mayor Philip Cohen at 8:15 P.M.
Roll Call: Mayor Cohen, Councilmen Ausen, Heck and Willard. Also
Present were: City Manager Donald Poss, and City Clerk Allen Lindman.
The City Council proceeded to canvass the general election returns
at the various City precincts.
Councilman Willard left the canvass proceedings at 8 :30 P. M.
Councilman Leary arrived for the canvass proceedings at 8:35 P. M.
The Canvass Board reported that ballots were cast as follows:
For the Office of Mayor Ballot Count
Philip Q. Cohen 3660
For the Office of Ctty Councilman
Maurice W, Britts 2169
Robert W. Jensen 2108
Upon completing the election canvass, member Howard fleck introduced
the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 71220
RESOLUTION REGARDING CANVASS OF NOVEMBER 2, 1971 CITY
ELECTION
BE IT RESOLVED that it is hereby determined upon official canvass that
Maurice W. Britts is declared to be the duly lected City Councilman of the C

of Brooklyn Center.
The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by
member Vernon Ausen, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted
In favor thereof: Philip Cohen, John Leary, Vernon Ausen, and Howard Heck;
and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution
was declared duly passed and adopted,
Member John Leary introduced the following resolution and moved
its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 71 -221
RESOLUTION REGARDING CANVASS OF NOVEMBER 2, 1971 CITY
ELECTION
BE IT RESOLVED that it Is hereby determined upon official canvass
that Phillip Q. Cohen, s dec fared to be the duly elected Mayor of the City of
Brooklyn Center.

The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded
by member Vernon Ausen, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following
voted in favor thereof: Philip Cohen, John Leary, Vernon Ausen, and Howard Heck;
and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was
declared duly passed and adopted.
Motion by Councilman Heck and seconded by Councilman Leary to
adjourn the meeting. Voting in favor were: Councilmen Leary, Ausen, and
Heck. Voting against: none. Motion carried unanimously. The Council meeting
as a Canvass Board adjourned at 9 :05 P.M.
