HomeMy WebLinkAbout1970 09-09 CCM Special Session r Minutes of the Proceedings of the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center In the County of Hennepin and State of Minnesota September 9, 1970 The City Council met in special session and was called to order by Mayor Philip Cohen at 7:34 P.M. Roll Call: Philip Cohen, Howard Heck, John Leary and Vernon Ausen. Also present were: Donald Poss, Paul Holmlund James Merila, and B. E. Peterson. Mayor Cohen announced that the purpose of the meeting was to consider the 1971 budget proposal in public hearing. The City Manager then presented a general review of the major elements of the 1971 budget, illustrating via diagrams the proposed total revenues and expenditures. (During this discussion Councilman Willard arrived at 8:12 P.M.) Councilman Willard left the meeting at 9 :00 P.M. The meeting recessed at 9 :00 P.M. and resumed at 9 :21 P.M . Following the recess the City Manager explained in detail the estimated sources of revenue for the 1971 budget answering questions posed by the Council. Specific emphasis was accorded to estimated revenue from swimming pool activites. A detailed explanation aid discussion of proposed expenditures as contained in the proposed appropriations summaries ensued. Upon completing consideration of the proposed appropriations summaries, the City Manager suggested that the next budget hearing be devoted to a review of proposed expenditures by functional account. Motion by Howard Heck and seconded by Vernon Ausen to adjourn the 1971 budget hearing until September 14, 1970. Voting in favor were: Philip Cohen, John Leary, Vernon Ausen and Howard Heck. Voting against were: none. Motion carried unanimously. Motion by John Leary and seconded by Vernon Ausen to adjourn the meeting.
