Council of the City of Brooklyn Center
in the County of Hennepin and State of
Minnesota
November 3, 1970
The City Council met in special session on behalf of the Hennepin
County Auditor as an election Canvass Board and was called to order by
Mayor Philip Cohen at 9:00 P. M.
Roll Call: Philip Cohen, john Leary, Vernon Ausen and Howard Heck.
Also present were: Donald G. Poss, Allen S. Lindman, Thomas Ducks and
Bambridge Peterson. .
The Mayer announced that the order of business consisted of the
consideration of the returns of the election conducted on November 3, 1970.
The City Council then proceeded to canvass the general election returns at
the various City precincts.
With regard to the local election the Canvass Beard reported that
ballots were cast as follows:
For the Office of City Councilman: Ballot ."fount

William Axrell 3,920
Upon completing the election canvass, member Vernon Ausen introduced
the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 70 -224
RESOLUTION REGARDING CANVASS OF NOVEMBER 3, 1970 CITY
ELE TIO
BE IT RESOLVED that it is hereby determined upon official canvass
that John ° Leary is declared to be the duly elected Councilman of the City of
Brooklyn Center.
The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by
member Howard Heck, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted
in favor thereof: Philip Cohen, john Leary, Vernon Ausen and Howard Heck,
and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution
was declared duly passed and adopted.
Member john Leary introduced the following resolution and moved

RESOLUTION NO. 70-225
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PARTICIPATION OF THE CITY OF
BROOKLYN CENTER IN A POLICE - SCHOOL LIAISON PROGRAM AND
AUTHORIZING THE VILLAGE OF NEW HOPE TO ACT AS A GRANTEE
FOR INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 281, BROOKLYN PARK,
BROOKLYN CENTER, ROBBINSDALE, CRYSTAL, PLYMOUTH, GOLDEN
VA AND WW ffQfZ-
The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded
by member Howard Heck, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following
voted in favor thereof; Philip Cohen, john Leary, Vernon Ausen and Howard Heck,
and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution
was declared duly passed and adopted.
Motion by Howard Heck and seconded by john Leary that the meeting
be adjourned. Voting in favor were: Philip Cohen, john Lary, Vernon Ausen
and Howard Heck.. Voting against were: none. Motion carried unanimously,.
