HomeMy WebLinkAbout1953 11-12 CCM Regular SessionMinutes of the proceeding of the Village Council of the Village of Brooklyn Center in the County of Hennepin and State of Minnesota, including all accounts audited by said Council November 12, 1953 The Village Council met in regular session and called to order by Arthur Paulson, President, at 8:15 P.M. The following members were present: Arthur Paulson, Merrill StodghlB, Wayne Gageby, Glen Sonnenberg and Paul Weekly. The minutes of the regular meeting held on October 28, 1953 were approved as read. Motion made by Wayne Gageby and seconded by Paul Weekly to accept the streets in Ryden's Second Addition, streets completed being Aricon Drive, Brookview Drive and Ericon Court, also with stipulations that Ericon Court be corrected as to grade, which Mr. Glison intends to do next year as to - Minder's recommendations. All members voting in favor of this motion, motion carried. Motion made by Glen Sonnenberg and seconded by Paul Weekly to accept the recommendations of John R. Coan, Postmaster, Minneapolis Post Office, changing the house numbers on Lilac Drive from Brooklyn Center's south limits - to the river, considering Lilac Drive as a north and south street instead of east and west. This would make Brooklyn Center numbers run from 4700 to 6300, and that Edwin Peterson be instructed to make these changes and the householders be notified accordingly. All members voting in favor of this motion, motion carried. Motion made by Wayne Gageby and seconded by Merrill Stodghill to accept the Justice report presented by H. R. Jones for the month of October 1953. Motion carried. Motion made by Merrill Stodghill and seconded by Wayne Gageby that the Village Council order a retail credit report on Earl Holmes who has made application for employment in the Municipal Liquor Store. Motion carried. Motion made by Merrill Stodghill and seconded by Wayne Gageby that Storm Sewer assessments on the west side of Aldrich Ave. N. between 53rd and 55th Ave. N. be reduced 47; cents per front foot, the property owners on Bryant Avenue whose property extends east to Aldrich Avenue having decided to accept the Village offer through their attorneys, Bowen & Bowen. All members voting in favor of this motion, motion carried. Member Wayne Gageby introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: BE IT RESOLVED by the Village Council of the Village of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, as follows: 1. The Village Council does hereby waive the bond requirement set forth in paragraph 6 of the Resolution of the Village Council dated November 13, 1946 under the representation made by the Standard Oil Company that they are presently qualified as a self - insurer under the laws of the State of Minnesota. 2. The waiver of this bond requirement shall in no way limit or lessen the liability of the Standard Oil Company as set forth in paragraph 6 of said resolution, and the Standard Oil Company shall continue to be bound by all of the provisions of said paragraph 6 save that a bond shall not be required in connection therewith. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Paul Weekly, and upon vote being taken thereon the following voted in favor thereof: Arthur Paulson, Merrill Stodghill, Wayne Gageby, Glen Sonnenberg and Paul Weekly; and the following voted against the same: None whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted. 53 #414 Distillers Distr.
