HomeMy WebLinkAbout1954 01-19 CCM Special Session68 Minutes of the proceeding of the Village Council of the Village of Brooklyn Center in the County of Hennepin and State of Minnesota, including all accounts audited by said Council. January 19, 195 The Village Council met in special session, and called to order by Arthur Paulson, President, at 8 :00 P.M. The following members were present: Arthur Paulson, Glen Sonnenberg, Allen Lindman and Paul Weekly. Wayne Gageby was absent. Motion made by Glen Sonnenberg and seconded by Paul Weekly to accept the recommendation of the Minder Engineering Co. covering the streets in the Grandview Place 1st Addition, the owner to grade streets in the spring. All members voting in favor of this motion, motion carried. Motion made by Paul Weekly and seconded by Glen Sonnenberg to accept the report of the Brooklyn Center Fire Department for the year 1953. Motion carried. Motion made by Glen Sonnenberg and seconded by Paul Weekly to transfer all remaining liabilities in Storm Sewer No. 1 Fund to the General Fund, amounting to $19,328.30, this being a supplement to the motion made on December 23, 1953. All members voting in favor of this motion, motion carried. Arthur Paulson made the following appointments: Health Committee Streets & Public Works Village Attorney Marshall Weed Inspector Street Superintendent - Administrative Assistant Special Health Officer Relief Administrator Building Inspector Clerk Building & Fire Dept.Relations Chairman, Allen Lindman Glen Sonnenberg Wayne Gageby Chairman, Wayne Gageby Glen Sonnenberg Allen Lindman Chairman, Glen Sonnenberg Wayne Gageby Allen Lindman Donald M. Fraser Robert Cahlander Elsworth Nelson Dan Elmer Glen Sonnenberg Arnold Fahlan Edwin Peterson It tt Motion made by Paul Weekly and seconded by Allen Lindman that the appointments made by Arthur Paulson, Mayor, be accepted. Motion carried. Motion made by Glen Sonnenberg and seconded by Paul Weekly that Village Council assume the responsibilities for mailing bus schedules to residents of Brooklyn Center. Motion carried. - Motion made by Paul Weekly and seconded by Allen Lindman to adjourn. Motion carried. The Village Council reconvened with the Planning Commission in a discussion in regard to a Park along Shingle Creek in the Village of Brooklyn Center, and to tie in with the plans and specification which the Park Board of Minneapolis have now set up, and will be started within the year. It was the census of opinion that a letter be addressed to Mr. Dainen of Minneapolis and copies of same be sent to Mr. Close of U. of M, Larry Haeg - state representative, Earl Ainsworth - County Commissioner, Earle Brown, and to the Conservation Dept of the State of Minnesota for a joint hearing on Wednesday,. February 17, 1954. President
