of the Village of Brooklyn Center in the County of Hennepin and
State of Minnesota, including all accounts audited by said Council
April 19, 1954
The Village Council met in special session and called to order by
Arthur Paulson, Mayor, at 8:00 P.M.
The following members were present: Arthur Paulson, Wayne Gageby,
Allen Lindman and Paul Weekly. Glen Sonnenberg was absent.
Motion made by Wayne Gageby and seconded by Allen Lindman that
building permit cost for the motel constructed by Mr. Gilbertson be $75.00.
Motion carried.
Motion made by Wayne Gageby and seconded by Allen Lindman that
Mr. K. L. Nordquist be rda.ined as financial administrative assistant to the
Village Council at $140.00 per month, including
#1 Journalizing and entering of all transactions and posting to the
ledger accounts for all funds.
#2 Preparation of monthly reports to the Village Council, indicating
fund balances.
#3 -Monthly bank reconciliations to the Village Treasurer for his
assistance in records of deposits in the bank for the various funds.
# Improve internal control procedures, where needed.
Also that salary be retroactive to January 1954. All members voting
in favor of this motion, motion carried.
Motion made by Wayne Gageby and seconded by Paul Weekly giving the
supervisor of the street department authority to employ an additional man for
street work at a salary of $300.00 per month, effective May 1, 1954. All members
voting in favor of this motion, motion carried.
Motion made by Wayne Gageby and seconded by Paul Weekly that the
State Highway Department be requested to clean and grade the ditch on the wesk
side of T.H. #169 from 69th Avenue North to 73rd Avenue North so that the water
will flow to the catch basin at 69th Avenue North. All members voting in favor
of this motion, motion carried.
Motion made by Paul Weekly and seconded by Wayne Gageby that the
County Commissioners be requested to repair County Road #10 and County Road
#130 and clean out ditches on both sides of County Road #130 west from Lyndale
Avenue North. All members voting in favor of this motion, motion carried.
Motion made by Paul Weekly and seconded by Allen Lindman giving the
Minneapolis Gas Light Co. authority to install a 3 inch main on
Ericon Drive from Oliver Ave. N. to Lot 1, Block 2
Judy Lane from Brookview Drive to Lot 13, Block 4
Irving Ave. N. 386 feet north of the north line of 57th Avenue to
cover south 25 feet of Lot 7
Colfax Ave. N. from end of Job S -27 195 to 60th Ave. N.
Logan Ave. N. from 7 ft north of the south line of 54th Ave. N.
to 18 feet north of the north line of 55th Ave. N.
All members voting in favor of this motion, motion carried.
Motion made by Wayne Gageby and seconded by Paul Weekly that the
Minder Engineering Co. be instructed to study the proposed plan submitted by
Village of Crystal for a Sanitary Sewer project thru the village and connect
up to the City of Minneapolis at 49th Ave. N. and Xerxes Avenue and submit a
plan showing what can be gained for the Village, what effect this will have'
tying into at 49th Avenue west of Shingle Creek, and what protection the Village
would have in connecting to the City Sewer in the future, and how does the
Osseo Sewer fit in on this project. All members voting in favor of this motion,
motion carried.
Motion made by Wayne Gageby and seconded by Allen Lindman giving James
Fischbach authority to have the liquor sign, now in storage, hung on the

Municipal Liquor Store. Motion carried.
Motion made by Allen Lindman and seconded by Wayne Gageby to
accept the bond of Joseph F. Dahinden in the amount of $2430.00 for
hardtopping 59th to 60th St. N. and 60th to 61st Ave. N. on Colfax Ave. N.
Motion carried.
Motion made by Paul Weekly and seconded by Wayne Gageby that
abatements be issued covering Lots 1 to 8 inclusive, Block 2, Camden Acres,
reducing them from 125% of front footage to actual front footage, covering
assessments on the Storm Sewer Improvement Fund #1; all members voting in
favor of this motion, motion carried.
Motion made by Allen Lindman and seconded by Wayne Gageby that
the Village of Brooklyn Center forward the sum of $25.00 to the Hennepin
County Agricultural Society, sponsors of the Hennepin County Fair, and
authorized by state statutes. Motion carried.
Motion made by Paul Weekly and seconded by Wayne Gageby to purchase
one desk, 2 chairs and one table from the General Fireproofing Co. Motion
carried.
