HomeMy WebLinkAbout1954 11-24 CCM Regular SessionMinutes of the proceeding of the Village Council of the Village of Brooklyn Center in the County of Hennepin and State of Minnesota, including all accounts audited by said Council November 24, 1954 The Village Council met in regular session and called to order by Arthur Paulson, Mayor, at 8:15 P.M. The following members were present: Arthur Paulson, Wayne Gageby, Allen Lindman, Glen Sonnenberg and Paul Weekly. The minutes of the regular meeting held on November At 1954 were approved as read. Motion made by Allen Lindman and seconded by Wayne Gageby to accept the proposed plat of Hipp's 3rd Addition, subject to all the restrictions of the Platting Ordinance, and Special Permit be granted to secure Building Permits, but no property to be sold until final plat has been recorded. Motion carried. Motion made by Paul Weekly and seconded by Wayne Gageby to accept the final plat of the Nordstrom First Addition. Motion carried. Motion made by Wayne Gageby to commit the Village of Brooklyn Center to making the following improvements in accordance with the resolution heretofore identified as Improvement Commitments for VA Loan Purposes. Said resolution shall have inserted in it the following: Property to be improved: Nordstrom's 1st Addition Estimated Cost: $500.00 Date of completion: 12 months Improvements to be made: Grading, graveling and oil stabilizing of all streets within the boundaries of the aforementioned Addition. Builder: C. D. Nordstrom The foregoing motion was duly seconded by Paul Weekly, and all members present voting in favor thereof, the motion was carried. Motion made by Allen Lindman to commit the Village of Brooklyn Center to making the following improvements in accordance with the resolution heretofore identified as Improvement Commitments for VA Loan Purposes. THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF BROOKLYN CENTER DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: The foregoing motion was duly seconded by Paul Weekly, and all members present voting in favor thereof, the motion was carried. Motion made by Wayne Gageby and seconded by Paul Weekly that the Federal Hosing Administration be informed that we are in the process of checking and accepting the streets in the Ryden Addition, and have informed Mr. Glisen that in the event there may be discrepancies that do not meet the Village Standards, he will be required to make corrections by July 1, 1955. All members voting in favor of this motion, motion carried. Motion made by Wayne Gageby and seconded by Paul Weekly thatthe Village attorney draw forms for License Bonds and Performance Bonds. Motion carried. Motion made by Allen Lindman and seconded by Wayne Gageby to adopt the following ordinance: AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE BUILDING CODE OF THE VILLAGE OF BROOKLYN CENTER BY CHANGING THE FEES FOR COMMERCIAL BUILDING PERMITS 190 1. The Building Code of the Village of Brooklyn Center is hereby amended by adding the following provision to said ordinance: The fee for Building Permits for commercial structures shall be computed at the rate of $1.10 for every thousand cubic feet (or major fraction thereof) of space within the proposed structure. 2. This ordinance shall be in force from and after its publication. Upon vote being taken on the adoption of the foregoing ordinance, the following voted in favor thereof: Arthur Paulson, Wayne Gageby, Glen Sonnenberg, Allen Lindman and Paul Weekly; and the following voted against the same: None; whereupon said ordinance was declared duly passed and adopted. Motion made by Paul Weekly and seconded by Wayne Gageby that a hat and coat rack be installed in the entry way to the village offices. Motion carried. Motion made by Glen Sonnenberg and seconded by Wayne Gageby that the approximate 115 acres of property of Edling, Ryden and Brunsell from open development to commercial be denied. All members voting in favor of this motion, motion carried. Motion made by Wayne Gageby and seconded by Glen Sonnenberg to accept the recommendation of the Minder Engineering Company covering the following streets in the Hipp's Addition: 1. James Ave. from 54th to 55th has been oiled and is to grade. 2. Girard Avenue from 58th to the turnaround, 350 feet North of 58th. 3. Logan Ave. from 54th to 55th Ave. N. All members voting in favor of this motion, motion carried. Motion made by Paul Weekly and seconded by Allen Lindman giving the Northern States Power Co. authority to install five poles on France Ave. N. from 53rd Avenue to 55th Avenue North. Motion carried. Motion made by Paul Weekly and seconded by Allen Lindman to accept the Justice Report presented by A. R. Johnson for the month of October, 1954. Motion carried. Motion made by Paul Weekly and seconded by Allen Lindman to accept the State Deed covering the following described property: (for park purposes) Lot 1, including accretions, except road, Section 26, Township 119, Range 21, in the Village of Brooklyn Center, Hennepin County, Minnesota; also described as follows, to -wit: Beginning at the SW corner of said Section 26, thence Easterly along the Southerly line of said Section and extension thereof to a point in said line and extension thereof distant Westerly 723 3/10 ft from the intersection of the North and South quarter line with the South line of said Section 26; thence North and parallel with said North and South quarter line and extension thereof 980 78/100 ft; thence East and parallel with the South line of said Section 362 3/10 ft; thence North and parallel with said North and South quarter line and extension thereof 721 32/100 ft; thence Northeasterly to the point in said North and South quarter line and extension thereof at which said line and extension thereof intersects the United States meander line which forms the Southerly boundary of Lots 4 and 5 in said Section which point is distant 1853 2/10 ft North of the South line of said Section and extension thereof; thence in a Northwesterly and Southwesterly direction along said meander line to the point at which the said meander line intersects the West line of said Section and extension of said line; thence South along said line and extension thereof to the point of beginning; subject to County Road No. 130, Section 26, Township 119, Range 21, Hennepin County,Minn.
