HomeMy WebLinkAbout1955 03-09 CCM Regular Session ":13 Minutes of the proceeding of the Village Council of the Village of Brooklyn Center in the County of Hennepin and State of Minnesota, including all accounts audited by said Council March 9, 1955 The Village Council met in regular session and was called to order by Arthur Paulson, Mayor, at 8 :20 p.m. The following members were present: Arthur Paulson, Allen Lindman, Wayne Gageby, Glen Sonnenberg and H. R. Jones. Motion made by Wayne Gageby and seconded by H. R. Jones that on the advice of the Village Attorney the Village of Brooklyn Center has no interest in the Condemnation Proceedings, District Court File No. 508900, and the Village Attorney is authorized to write a letter to the PSetropolitan Airports Commission releasing any claim to any award therein. Motion carried. Motion made by Wayne Gageby and seconded by H. R. Jones to adopt amendment to Cigarette License Ordinance, Sec. 21 -1.03. Motion carried. Motion made by H. R. Jones and seconded by Allen Lindman to adopt amendment to Non - Intoxicating Liquor License Ordinance, Sec. 11 -105. Motion carried. Motion made by H. R. Jones and seconded by Wayne Gageby to approve garbage license for Boyer Garbage Service. Motion carried. Motion made by Allen Lindman and seconded by Wayne Gageby to accept the recommendation of the Planning Commission and accept the proposed plat submitted by Kenneth Bergstrom, subject to the Platting Ordinance. Motion carried. Motion made by Wayne Gageby and seconded by Allen Lindman to accept the recommendation of the Planning Commission and accept the pro- posed plat submitted by Homedale Builders, subject to the Platting Ordinance. Motion carried. The Mayor announced that the Council was met to receive, open and consider bids for labor and materials in the construction of Sani- tary Sewers on Camden Avenue from Fifty -Third 4kr&t North to Fifty- fifth 4,et North. The Village Clerk presented affidavits showing publication of advertis- -ment for bids in the official newspaper and the Construction Bulletin, which affidavits were examined and found to be in accordance with law and ordered placed on file. The Clerk then presented the bids which had been received. These were numbered - consecutively and were then opened and examined and all persons who desired were given an opportunity to inspect all bids. Robert Moore Co. $9- 582.30 Member Wayne Gageby introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: i I 224 Resolution Tabling Further Action on Bids BE IT RESOLVED by the Village Council of the Village of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, that further action on the bids received for labor and materials in the construction of Sanitary Sewers on Camden Avenue between Fifty -third Street North and Fifty -fifth Street North be tabled until the next regular meeting of the Council on March 23, 1955 - The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member H. R. Jones, and upon vote being taken thereon the follow- ing voted in favor thereof: Arthur Paulson, Allen Lindman, Wayne Gageby, Glen Sonnenberg, and H. R. Jones; and the following voted against same: none; whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted. Motion made by Wayne,Gageby and seconded by Allen Lindman that the proposed plat submitted by Mayhill Builders be tabled for further investiga- tion, and that the developer be notified to appear at the next regular meeting of the Council on March 2 3, 1955- Motion carried. Motion made by Glen Sonnenberg and seconded by Wayne Gageby to accept the recommendation of the Planning Commission and give Marvin Richter special permit to sell 60 foot lot on Fremont Avenue, which is described as the South fifty (50) feet of Lot Seven (7) and the North ten (10) feet of Lot Six (6), Block One (1), Reidhead's Addition. Motion carried. Motion made by Wayne Gageby and seconded by Glen Sonnenberg to accept the recommendation of the Planning Commission and accept the proposed plat of Garden City First Addition submitted by Garden City Development Company, sub- ject to the Platting Ordinance. Motion carried. Motion made by Allen Lindman and seconded by Glen Sonnenberg to ac- cept the recommendation of the Planning Commission and allow Kenneth Bergstrom to construct a model home on Lot 22, Block 1, of Bergstrom's proposed plat. Motion carried. Motion made by Wayne Gageby and seconded by Glen Sonnenberg to recon- sider the motion on acceptance of proposed plat of Garden City First Addition submitted by Garden City Development Company. Motion carried. Motion made by H. R. Jones and seconded by Glen Sonnenberg to accept the recommendation of the Planning Commission and aaept the proposed plat of Garden City First Addition submitted by Garden City Development Company, subject to the Platting Ordinance, and to approval of a proper development of the pro - posed parr, area prior to final acceptance of the plat. Motion carried. Motion made by Wayne Gageby and seconded by Allen Lindman to accept the recommendation of the Planning Commission and allow Garden City Development Company to construct model homes on Lots 23 and 24, Block 5, of Garden City First Addition proposed plat. Motion carried. Motion made by Glen Sonnenberg and seconded by Allen Lindman to trans- fer the following amounts, now deposited in the General Fund Account, to the following named funds: Fire Department Relief $1,343.68 Storm Sewer #1 9,911.13 1953 A Improvement 6,570.67 Working Capital (Oiling) 4,621.19 Sanitary Sewer #1 1,541.01 $23,967.66 Motion carried. Motion made by Glen Sonnenberg and seconded by H. R. Jones to increase the salary of Richard Jennrich to the next step provided in the Per- sonnel Merit System Ordinance and to increase the salary of James Fischbach $10.00 per month, both retroactive to January 1, 1955- Motion carried.
