HomeMy WebLinkAbout1955 08-03 CCM Special Session 288 Minutes of the proceeding of the Village Council of the Village of Brooklyn Center in the County of Hennepin and State of Minnesda, including all accounts audited by said Council August 3, 1155 The Village Council met in special session and was called to order by .Arthur Paulson, Mayor, at 8 :00 P.M. The following members were present: Arthur Paulson, Wayne Gageby, Glen Sonnenberg, Allen Lindman, and H. R. Jones. Motion made by Wayne Gageby and seconded by H R. Jones to approve non - intoxicating malt liquor license for McGrath's Grocery at 5845 Lyndale Arnue North. License ends December 31, 1955• Motion carried. Motion made by Wayne Gageby and seconded by H. R. Jones to approve cigarette license for Beacon Cafe at 6533 Lyndale Avenue North. Motion carried. Member H. R. Jones introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION PROVIDING FOR PUBLIC HEARING ON A PROPOSED IMPROVEMENT WHEREAS, a petition of property owners has been filed in the office of the village clerk for the construction of a proposed improvement consisting of the following: Graveling and blacktopping West one -half of Halifax Avenue North between 57th and 58th Avenue North, WHEREAS, the village engineer has made a preliminary report advising that said proposed improvement is feasible and that it can be constructed at an estimated cost of $2,000.00, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Village Council of the Village of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, as follows: 1. The council proposes to proceed under authority granted by Chapter 398, Laws of Minnesota, 1953• 2. A public hearing on the proposed improvement shall be held at the Village Hall in the village on Wednesday, the 24th day of August,, 1955, at 8 :00 o'clock P.M., and the clerk shall publish notice of the time and place of hearing by two weeks publication in the. official newspaper of the village. 3. The area proposed to be assessed for said improvement is as follows: All lots and parcels of land abutting thereon. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly :seconded by member Glen Sonnenberg, and upon vote being taken thereon the following voted in favor thereof: Arthur Paulson, Wayne Gageby, Glen Sonnenberg, Allen Lindman, and H. R. Jones. Motion made by Wayne Gageby and seconded by Allen Lindman to accept a deed of Wesley 0. Omodt, single, and Arlene L. Kuester, single, for the following described property: The West Thirty (30) feet of the following described parcels: North One Hundred Fifty (150) feet of the South One Hundred Eighty -three (183) feet of the West One Hundred Sixty -five (165) feet of the Northeast 1/4 of the Southwest 1/4 of the Northeast 1/4 except State Highway 100, Section Ten (10), Township One Hundred Eighteen (118), Range Twenty -one (21). That part of the West One Hundred Sixty -five (165) feet of the Northeast 1/4 of the Southwest 1/4 of the Northeast 1/4 lying south of the North Three Hundred Seventy (370) feet thereof and North of the South One Hundred Eighty -three (183) '289 feet thereof, except State Highway 100, Section Ten (10), Township One Hundred Eighteen (118), Range Twenty -one (21). For road purposes only. and Doug Uzzell to reimburse Village for condemnation costs. Motion carried. Motion made by Wayne Gageby and seconded by H. R. Jones to authorize f the Village Engineer to put in a Sewer Stub for sewer service from 54th and Fremont to 1113 - 54th Avenue North. Financing to be determined at a later date. Motion carried. Motion made by Glen Sonnenberg and secorAd by Wayne Gageby to instruct Village Engineer to cooperate with the Village of Edina and fill out survey as requested, and to request the Village of Edina to furnish us with a copy of the results. Motion carried. ' Motion made by Glen Sonnenberg and seconded by Allen Lindman to instruct the Village }der to proceed with condemnation proceedings to acquire the 10 feet of land an the East side of the alley that runs between Vincent and Upton Avenues North between 52nd and 53rd Avenues North in the City of Minneapolis. This additional land is needed for installing Main Interceptor Sewer 1955 -1. Motion carried. Motion made by Glen Sonnenberg and seconded by Wayne Gageby that we instruct the Minder Engineering Company to prepare an overall storm sewer drainage plan for the Village of Brooklyn Center. Financial arrangements to be arrived at at a later date. Motion carried. Motion made by Glen Sonnenberg and seconded by Allen Lindman that Robert Cahlander be appointed Chief of Police of the Village of Brooklyn Center and come under Personnel Ordinance effective January 1, 1956. Motion carried. The following bills were audited and ordered paid: General #3533 Charles Quick Services $88.00 Motion made by Allen Lindman and seconded by Glen Sonnenberg to adjourn. Motion carried. —" Motion made by Wayne Gageby and seconded by H. R. Jones to approve cigarette License for Ideal Drugs at 57+0 Morgan Avenue North. Motion carried. Mayor Clerk
