Council of the City of Brooklyn Center
In the County of Hennepin and State of
Minnesota
November 4, 1969
The City Council met in special session as the Canvass Board of the
Election and was called to order at 8 :30 P. M.
Roll Call: Philip Cohen, john Leary, Earl Rydberg, Howard Heck and
Theodore Willard. Also present were: D. G. Pos s,, Allen S. Lindman and
B.E. Peterson,
The Mayor announced that the order of business consisted of the
consideration of the returns of the election held November 4, 1969. It was
the report of the Canvass Board that ballots were cast as follows:
For the Office of Mayor. Ballot Count
Philip Q. Cohen 2760
Robert J. Schmitt 1711
For the Two Offices of Councilman:
Vernon Ausen 2365
Howard Heck 2209
Robert W. Jensen 2136
Neal H. Nelson 2174
After completing the foregoing canvass, member john Leary introduced
the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 69 -310
RESOLUTION REGARDING CANVASS OF NOVEMBER 4, 1969 CITY
ELECTION
BE IT RESOLVED that it is hereby determined upon the foregoing canvass
that Philip Q. Cohen is declared to be the duly elected Mayor of the City of
Brooklyn Center, and
BE IT RESOLVED that it is hereby determined upon the foregoing canvass
that Vernon Ausen is declared to be a duly elected Councilman of the City of
Brooklyn Center; and
BE IT RESOLVED that it is hereby determined upon the foregoing canvass
that Howard Heck is declared a duly elected Councilman of the City of Brooklyn
Center.
The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by
member Theodore Willard, and upon vote Ding taken thereon, the following
voted in favor thereof: Philip Cohen, John Leary, Earl Rydberg, Howard Heck
and Theodore Willard; and the following voted against the same: none where-
upon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
Motion by Howard Heck and seconded by Earl Rydberg that the meeting
be adjourned. Voting in favor were: Philip Cohen, John Leary, Earl Rydberg,
Howard Heck and Theodore Willard. Voting against were: none. Motion carried
unanimously. The Council meeting adjourned at 9 :45 P.M.
