October 4, 1967
The City Council met in special session and was called to order by
Mayor Pro -tem Howard Heck at 8 :34 P.M.
Roll Call: Mayor Pro -tem Howard Heck, john Leary, Gordon Erickson,
and Theodore Willard were present. Also present were: D. G. Poss, Paul

Relief Association.
Motion by John Leary and seconded by Theodore Willard to reconvene
the 1968 Budget Hearing previously adjourned at the meeting of October 2, 1967.
Motion carried unanimously.
Mr. Poss introduced Mr. Art Paulson, President of the Brooklyn Center
Fire Relief Association who had asked to be allured to discuss with the Council
the pension levels to be provided under the new state law relating to Brooklyn
Center's Fire Relief Association. Mr. Paulson proceeded to discuss various
points related to the $80 per month pension level the Council had previously
agreed to during its Budget discussions. Mr. Paulson proposed the possibility of
the $80 per month pension benefit level being increased to some higher level
within the $80 to $120 range provided by the new law.

assumed the Chair from Mayor Pro-tem Howard Heck.
Following further comments by Mr. Paulson, the Council asked questions
of him and of the City Manager relating to the pension program.
Mr. Willard left the meeting at this point, at 8 :56 P. M.
Following futher discussion, the Council directed that the previously
agreed upon level of pension benefits, $80 per month, be used in calculating
the 1968 Budget in order to actuarially fund the pension program. The Mayor and
