HomeMy WebLinkAbout1967 11-21 CCM Special Session Minutes of the Proceedings of the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center in the County of Hennepin and State of Minnesota November 21, 1967 The City Council met in special session and was called to order by Mayor Philip Cohen at 8:0 6 P.M. Roll Call: Mayor Philip Cohen, Gordon Erickson, Howard Heck, John Leary, and Theodore Willard. Also present were D. G. Poss, Richard Schieffer, Richard Cihoski and Jerry Dulgar. The session opened with a discussion of the scheduling of phrase 1 of the Capital Improvements Program. Mr. Poss explained that he would present the Council with a written schedule in the near future. The possibility of including park improvements in the Capital Improvements Program was discussed with the Council deciding to meet with the Park Director and the Park and Recreation Commission for further discussion on the matter. The Council discussed with the City Manager and City Attorney the alternatives the City had concerning the Shell Oil complaint. Consideration of the findings of the court in the Super America vs City of Brooklyn Center case followed, with Mr. Schieffer reading the findings of the judge to the Council. Mr. Poss and Mr. Schieffer explained the findings and the alternatives that were left for the City. The Junk Car Ordinance was reviewed by the Council and staff. Planning Commission Application No. 67052 was discussed, by the Council, in relation to the comprehensive plan and past zoning by the Council. It was determined that the Council would meet with the residents of the area on the site at 10:00 A.M. December 2nd. The final item to be considered was the sign variance request of Kentucky Fried Chicken, Inc. (Application No. 67057) . The staff was directed to be prepared to further discuss this item at the November 27 Council meeting. Motion by Howard Heck and seconded by Theodore Willard that the meeting be adjourned. Motion carried unanimously. The meeting adjourned at 10 :55 P.M. Clerk Mayor
