HomeMy WebLinkAbout1964 04-20 CCM Special Session 275 Minutes of the Proceedings of the Village Council of the Village of Brooklyn Center in the County of Hennepin and State of Minnesota April 20, 1964 The Village Council met in Special Session and was called to order by Mayor Gordon Erickson at 7;30 P. M. Roll Call: Mayor Gordon Erickson, Howard Heck, John Leary, Phil Cohen and Henry Dorff were present. Motion by john Leary and seconded by Phil Cohen to approve the minutes of the Regular Meeting of April 13, 1964 as corrected. Motion carried unanimously. Motion by Phil Cohen and seconded by Howard Heck to uphold the action of the Planning Commission and approve application 64036 submitted by Sears and grant a variance to Section 35 -410 of the zoning ordinance to permit a 68' x 71' fenced storage area on the V'il'est side of the garden store. The fence to be a chain link 8' high fence and to be removed not later than July 4, 1964. Mayor Erickson announced the appointment of Carl Sandstrom of 3612 53rd Place to the Industrial Development Commission. Motion by john Leary and seconded by Howard Heck to approve Mayor Erickson's appointment of Mrs. Harold Hartin of S946 Emerson Avenue to the Recreation Commission to complete the unexpired term of Mrs. Johnson, Motion carried unanimously. Motion by Howard Heck and seconded by Henry Dorff to appoint Richard Cherrier as a Field Engineer in the Engineering Department at a salary of $600 per month to be effective April 22, 1964. Motion carried unanimously. Motion by Henry Dorff and seconded by John Leary to appoint Chris 1 11hite as a temporary laborer in the Street Department at a wage of $2.20 Per horn' effective April 21, 1964. Motion carried unanimously. Motion by John Leary and seconded by Howard Heck to appoint Lester Nielsen as a temporary laborer in the Public Utilities Department at a wage of $2.20 per hour effective April 27, 1964. Motion carried unanimously. The Village Council discussed policy regarding petitions for sidewalk construction and instructed the Engineer and the Administrator to prepare written policy statement based upon their comments. Motion by Howard Heck and seconded by john Leary to approve the following licenses.
