HomeMy WebLinkAbout1964 08-10 CCM Regular Session M inutes of the Proceedings of the Village Council of the Village of Brooklyn Center in the County of Hennepin and State of _ _Minnesota August 10, 1964 The Village Council met in regular session and was called to order by Mayor Gordon Erickson at 7 :30 P. M. Roll Call; Present were Mayor Gordon Erickson, Phil Cohen, John Leary, Henry Dorff. and Howard Heck. Rev. Huber gave the invocation. Motion by John Leary and seconded by Howard Heck to approve the minutes of the Council meeting held August 6, 1964. Voting for the motion: Mayor Gordon Erickson, Phil Cohen, john Leary and Howard Heck,. Motion by Howard Heck and seconded by Phil Cohen to approve the following licenses: Electrical L icense Edina Electric Company 5101 West 50th Ave. So. Well Drilling License McAlpine Well Company 1333 Kentucky Ave. So. Motion carried unanimously. Motion by john Leary and seconded by Howard Heck to uphold the recommendation of the Planning Commission regarding application #64064 submitted by Charles Wilkins and grant a variance to Section 15 -104 (a -1) of the Village Ordinances to permit Mr. Wilkins to divide Lot 8, Block 3, Lawnridge Addition and sell that part of Lot 8 lying West of the East 170 feet provided said westerly parcel combined with Lot 3, Block 3, Lawnridge Addition. Motion carried unanimously. Motion by Phil Cohen and seconded by Henry Dorff to uphold the recommendation of the Planning Commission regarding application #64049 submitted by A.G. Smith and grant a variance to Section 35 -401 of the Village Ordinances to permit the construction of a 3' - 6" x 9• - 11" addition on the South side of the dwelling located at 5427 Fremorit Avenue North with a sideyard setback of eight feet. Motion carried unanimously, Motion by Howard Heck and seconded by Phil Cohen to uphold the recommendation of the Planning Commission regarding application #64070 submitted by George Jensen and approve the preliminary plat of Hillstead Addition providing all requirements of the platting ordinance are met. Motion carried unanimously. Motion by Phil Cohen and seconded by Howard Heck to reject the recommendation of the Planning Commission regarding application #64071 sub- mitted by Donald C. Stark and deny the request for a special use permit to build a double bungalow on the lot a 500 62nd Avenue North for the reason that the area in which the lot is located is devoted to single family residential use. Motion carried unanimously. Motion by Howard Heck and seconded by John Leary to table the recommendation of the Planning Commission regarding the landscape plan for Shopper's City until the Administrator has opportunity to discuss alternative proposals for the plan with representatives of Shopper's City. Motion carried unanimously. Motion by Henry Dorff and seconded by John Leary to uphold the recomm- endation of the Planning Commission regarding application #64072 submitted by Standard Solvents Company and deny the request for a variance to the setback requirements in industrial areas as set out in the Village Ordinances. Motion carried unanimously. Motion by Phil Cohen and sec:o_ided byHoward Heck to uphold the recommendation of the Planning CommIssIQr~ regarding application #64076 submitted by Ralph Luchsingear and grunt 4, variance to Section 35340 (2a) to allow the construction of a free- scar4ing indentification sign with a total height of twenty four feet to be located ;in the front yard setback of the motel at 6500 Lyndale Avenue North, provided that the sign sh jpt, exceed 132 square feet in area. Motion carried unanimously. r Member John Leary introduced the following resolution and m„ . Its adoption: WHEREAS the Commissioner of Highways has prepared plans, special provisions and specifications for the improvement of a part of Trunk Highway Number 212 renumbered as Trunk Highway Number 100 within the corporate limits Of the Village of Brooklyn Center at the intersection of T. H.100 and T. H. 152,• and WHEREAS said plans are on file in the office. of the Department of Highways, Saint Paul MAmesota, being marked, labeled,, and identified as S.P. 2755 -37 (T. H. 100 =212); and WHEREAS, said special provisions are on file in the office of the Department of Highways, Saint Paul, Minnesota, being marked, labeled, and Identified as S. P. 2755 -37 (T. H. 100 =212) which together with the Minnesota Department of Highways Specifications for Highway Construction, dated May 1, 1959, on file in the office of the Commissioner of Highways, constitute the specifications for said improvement of Trunk Highway Number 212 renumbered as Trunk Highway Number 100; and WHEREAS copies of said plans and special provisions as -so marked, labeled and identified are also on file in the office of the Village 4 and WHEREAS the term "said plans and special provisions'". as reinafter used In the body of this resolution shall be deemed and intended t6 mean, refer to, and incorporate the plans and special provisions in the forogoig recitals Particularly identified and described. NOW, THEN,, BE IT RESOLVED that said plans ar4 apacW provisions for the improvement of Trunk Highway Number 212 renumbered as Trunk Highway Number 100 within the limits of the Village of Brooklyn Center be and hereby are approved. BE IT rURTHER RESOLVED that the elevations and grades as shown in salt' plans and special provisions be and they are hereby approved and consent is hereby given to any and all changes in grade occasioned by the construction of said Trunk Highway Number 212 renumbered as Trunk Highway Number 100 in accordance with said plans and special provisions. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Howard Heck and upon vote being taken thereon the following voted in favor thereof: Gordon Erickson, Henry Dorff, john Leary, Howard Heck and Phil Cohen and the following voted against the same: None; whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted. The bills having been audited, Notion was made by Henry Dorn and aeconded by Howard Heck to order paid the bills set forth in the schedule attached to these minutes and made a part thereof. Motion carried unanimously. I The Council discussed the proposed Personnel Ordinance. Motion by Howard Heck and seconded by Phil Co en to adjourn. The Village Council adjourned at 12:05 A. M.
