HomeMy WebLinkAbout1964 11-30 CCM Special Session ITT- Minutes of the Proceedings of the Villa" Council of the Village of Brooklyn Center in the County of Hennepin and State of Minnesota November 30, 1964 The Village Council met in special session and was called to order at 7 :30 P.M. by Mayor Gordon Erickson. Roll Call: Present were Mayor Gordon Erickson, John Leary, Phil Cohen. ow H an d Piecic and Henry Dorff. Rev. Christensen gave the invocation. Motion by Phil Cohen and seconded by ,john Leary to approve the minutes of the November 23, meeting. Motion carried unanimously. The Council reviewed the October report from the Police Departrrrent, Member John Leary introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION APPRC}VIi• -C CLAIM OF MR. ROBJRT BROS iV, 5410 GIRARD AVENj_X NORTH WHEREAS, on October 29, 1964, the Public Utilities Division of the Village of Brooklyn Center was notified of a stoppage in the sewer service to 5410 Girard Avenue 1Torth, and VVEHEREAS, personnel of the Public Utilities Division observed that the sewer service stub from the main line to the property line was filled with roots, thereby creating the g an d WHEREAS, it was apparent that the pipe joints In. the sewer servio* stub had never been filled with joint material and WHEREAS, the absence of pipe joint material appeared to constitute improper original construction In the year 1952, and V HEREAS, the property owner, Mr. Robert Brown, incurred a cost of $163.35 and has submitted a claim in said amount to the Village of Brooklyn Center, and WHEREAS, it is the opinion of the Village Engineer that the above sited apparent improper original construction was a causative factor in the sewer service stoppage, and INHEREAS, the Village Engineer therefore recommends payment. of the claim of Mr. Robert Brown. NOV!, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Village Council of the Village of Brooklyn Center to approve the claim of Mr. Robert Brown of 5410 Girard Avenue North and to direct payment in the amount of $153.35 from the Village of Brooldyn Center Public Utilities Division of the Public Works Department. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Howard Deck, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Gordon Erickson, henry Dorff, john Leary, Howard Heck and Phil Cohen and the following voted against the same; None; whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted. Motion by Howard Heck and seconded by Henry Dorff to approve and OUOWi the 1 %dsyor and Clerk to sign the plat of Homedale 2nd Addition to Hennep14 County. Motion carried unanimously... �1� 113 Motion by Howard Heck and seconded by Phil Cohen to instruct the Administrator to contact officials of the County Court system and offer the use of Brooklyn Center courtroom facilities for the rental fee previously outline by the Council. Motion by Howard Heck and seconded by Phil Cohen to amend the pre- ceeding motion and direct the .Administrator to prepare a resolution for consideration by the Council which offers the use of the Village courtroom facilities to the County Court system at the rate originally considered by the Council and sets out the council's reasons for proposing the lower rate. Motion carried unanimously. The Mayor then called for the vote on the amended thotion. Motion carried unanimously. Motion by Phil Cohen and seconded by Howard Heck to appropriates they sum of $194.00 from unappropriated surplus for the purchase of twenty jackets for use by the Village Civil Defense organization. Motion carried unanimously. Motion by Phil Cohen and seconded by Howard Heck to cancel the special Council meeting scheduled for December 7., 1964. Motion carried unanimously. Motion by Henry Dorff and seconded by Phil Cohen to approve the following licenses: Electrical License Knuth Electric 2107 71 Ave. North, Mpls. He§UM License Jerry Anderson Sheet Dlvf , etal Co. 1 -940 131 st Ave. N.W. , Anoka Motion carried unanimously. iAAP J9h Leary appointed Thomas J. Hardy of 5837 W. River Road to the Industrial Development Commission The Council discussed the League of Minnesota Municipalities legislative program with State Senator Parish and Representative Slattengren.
