HomeMy WebLinkAbout1965 02-23 CCM Regular Session 205 Minutes of the `P,toceedings of the ' Village Council of the Village of Brooklyn Center in the County of Hennepin and State of Minnesota 4 r February 23, 1965 The Village Council md't in regular session and was called toorder by Mayor Gordon Erickson at 7 :3 0 P. M. Roll Call: Present were Mayor Gordon Erickson, John Leary, Earl Simons and Howard Heck. Also present were D. G. Poss, P.W. Holmlund, M. R. Hyde, T. G. O' Hehir and T. L. Hadd. j The minutes of the February 15, meeting were reviewed and approval deferred pending corrections. Motion by Howard Heck and seconded by John Leary to table the Council's review of Planning Commission application #65001 submitted, by' W.0. Patterson until March 1, 1965 as requested by the attorney for the applicant. Motion carried unanimously. Member John Leary introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 65 -18 RESOLUTION OPPOSING THE ADOPTION OF S.F. NO. 286 AND CALLING FOR A COMPREHENSIVE` REFORM OF THE STATE TAX STRUCTURE The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Howard Heck and upon vote being taken thereon the following voted in favor thereof; Gordon Erickson, John Leary, Earl Simons and Howard Heck and the following voted against the same: None ' whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted. Member John Leary introduced the following' resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 65 -19 RESMUTION AUTHORIZING A DELAY IN THE START OF CONSTRUCTION OF THE BROOKLYN CENTER LIB The motion for tho adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Howard Heck and upon vote being taken thereon the following voted In favor thereof: Gordon Erickson f Howard Heck z john Leary, and F rl Simon and the folding voted against the. same: None; whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted. Member Howard Heck introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 65 -20 RESOLUTION CORRECTING SANITARY LATERAL ASSESSMENT 61 A & B ON LOT 5 OF MENDENHALL'S OUTLOTS The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Earl Simons and upon. vote being taken `theebh the following ; voted in . favor thereof. Negethon to the position of police patrolman effective March 15, 1966. Motion carried unanimously. Motion by John Leary and seconded by Howard Heck to approve the followtv license. Motion by Howard Heck and seconded by Earl Simons to authorise the expenditure of an additional $46.00 for the purchase of winter jackets for the Civil Defense organization, and an expenditure of $95.00 for a desk and chair for the Civil Defense Director, said expenditures to be financed by an ,appropriation from the General pond Surplus. Motion carried unanimously. MotiOn by John Leary and seconded by Howard Heck upon the recoma wndation of- t#e.Administrator to purchase an electric typewriter for the vim of $404.00 to be sed u in the Public Utilities Division with funds for =e purchase_ to be drawn from the Public Utilities accounts. Motion carried unanim+ ly. n lay Earl Simons and seconded by Howard Heck, upon the recommesdAttion of the Vtllage Administrator, to terminate the employment of Mrs.'?atkkFroemmInq effective February 18, 1965. Motion carried unanimously. Member Phil Chen entered the meeting -at A.IS P. M. The Council discussed alternative approaches to tbW,zonInq of the "Brawn Farm" with members of the Planning Commission and Industrial Development Con es #on. Moftn by Phil when and seconded by Howard Heck to autht s Pke Chief to proceed wtththe development of specifications for a 126 n1 pumper. Motion carried unanimously. The bills having been: audited, Earl Simons moved and Howard Heck seconded to order paid the bills set forte in the :schedule dated February. 23, 1965 and filed in the permanent register book.
