HomeMy WebLinkAbout1965 05-10 CCM Regular Session 199 Minutes of the Proceedings of the Village Council of the Village of Brooklyn Center in the County of Hennepin and State of Minnesota May 10, 1965 The Village Council met in regular session and was called to order by Mayor Gordon Erickson at 7 :35 P. M. Roll Call: Present were Mayor Gordon Erickson, Jahn Leary, Earl Simons, and Howard Heck. Also present were A. J. Lee, D. G. Poss, T. L. Hadd, P. W. Holmlund, T. L. Willard, M. R. Hyde, and Thomas O' Hehir . Motion by John Leary and seconded by Earl Simons to approve the minutes of the May 3, 1965 Council meeting as recorded. Motion carried unanimously. Member Howard Heck introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 65 -72 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING STORM SEWER CONSTRUCTION IN 63rd AVENUE The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member John Leary, and upon vote being taken thereon the following voted i favor t d n r here f o . Gordon Erickson, Howard Heck. john Leary and Earl Simons and the following voted against the same: None; whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted. Member 1 r M Jahn Leary introduced the following and moved G its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 65 -73 RESOLUTION ACCEPTING BID AND APPROVING CONTRACT FORM DEEPVNELL,PRO?ECTS 1965 -36 1965 -37 The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Earl Simons and upon vote being taken thereon the following voted in favor thereof: Gordon Erickson, Howard Heck, John Leary and Earl Simons and the following voted against the same: None; whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted. Member Phil Cohen arrived at the meeting at 8 :1S P. M. Motion by Howard Heck and seconded by John Leary to authorize the Mayor and the Clerk to execute a utility easement to Northern States Power Company for the electric service to the library, and to instruct the Engineer to check the locations of the proposed poles. Motion carried unanimously. Motion by Phil Cohen and seconded by John Leary to hold a public hearing on June 7, 1965 on Project 1965 -38 for the abatement of a nuisance at a dilapidated house at 5329 James Avenue North. Motion carried unani- mously. Motion by John Leary and seconded by Earl Simons to accept the recommendation of the Administrator and appoint Marvin T. Mohr and John H. Mueller as seasonal laborers in the Park Department at a wage of $2.20 per hour. Motion carried unanimously. 41 Motion by Howard Heck and seconded by Phil Cohen to accept the recommendation of the Administrator and appoint Felix Kampa as a seasonal laborer in the Street Department at a wage of $2.20 per hour. Motion . carried unanimously. Motion by Phil Cohen and seconded by Howard Heck to accept the recommendation of the Administrator and appoint James Dybdahl as a male clerk -steno in the Police Department at a beginning salary of $459.00 per month. Motion carried unanimously. Member John Leary introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 65 -74 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF A 1 -TON STEEL ROLLER The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Phil Cohen and upon vote being taken thereon the following voted in favor thereof: Gordon Erickson, Howard Heck, Phil Cohen, John Leary and Earl Simons and the following voted against the same: None; whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted. Motion by John Leary and seconded by Howard Heck to instruct the Administrator to inform Representative Wingard and Senator Parish that the Village Council of Brooklyn Center opposes proposed legislation concern- ing the metropolitan sanitary sewage districts, and to further instruct the Administrator to prepare a resolution for the Council's consideration next Monday evening. Motion carried unanimously. Motion carried unanimously. Motion by Howard Heck and seconded by John Leary to direct the attorney to prepare a purchase agreement to purchase a well site from Kenneth Bergstrom for $2, 500.00 and to authorize the mayor and clerk to execute the purchase agreement. Motion carried unanimously. Motion by Phil Cohen and seconded by Howard Heck to endorse the proposal that a City - Suburban Commission be established to review and report upon the total governmental organization within Hennepin County. Motion carried unanimously. Motion by Phil Cohen and seconded by John Leary to instruct the Administrator to draft an ordinance which would provide for the control of sight -seers during emergency conditions in Brooklyn Center or portions thereof. Motion carried unanimously. The bills having been audited, Earl Simons moved and John Leary seconded to order paid the bills set forth in the schedule dated May 10, 1965 and filed in the Permanent register book_ Motion carried unaniWOU91 r.
