HomeMy WebLinkAbout1965 07-26 CCM Regular Session 139 Minutes of the Proceedings of the Village Council of the Village of Brooklyn Center in the County of Hennepin and State of Minnesota July 26, 1965 The Village Council met in regular session and was called to order by Mayor pro tem John Leary at 7:30 P. M. Roll Call: Present were Phil Cohen, John Leary and Earl Simons. Absent: Mayor Gordon Erickson and Howard Heck. Also present were A. J. Lee, D. G. Poss, T. L. Hadd, P. W. Holmlund, T. L. Willard, M. R. Hyde and Thomas O'Hehir. Reverend Christensen of the Brooklyn Center Free Church offered the invocation. Motion by Phil Cohen and seconded by Earl Simons to approve the minutes of the July 19, 1965 Council meeting as recorded. Motion carried unanimously. Member Earl Simons introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 65 -138 RESOLUTION AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 65 -89 ADOPTED JUNE 1, 1965 The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Phil Cohen and upon vote being taken thereon the following p g o in g voted in favor thereof: Phil Cohen, John Leary and Earl Simons, and the following voted against the same: None; whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted. Member Phil Cohen introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 65 -139 RESOLUTION APPROVING PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR STREET SURFACING IMPROVEMENT PROJECT NO'S. 1965 -21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 30, 31, 32, 33, 44, 48 AND 52 AND DIRECTING ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Earl Simons, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Phil Cohen, John Leary and Earl Simons, and the following voted against the same: None; whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted. Motion by Phil Cohen and seconded by Earl Simons to instruct the Village Administrator to obtain written quotations for ten window air condi- tioning units and proceed with the purchase at the lowest stated price if said price is under $2, 0€10.00. Motion carried unanimously. Motion by Earl Simons and seconded by Phil Cohen to instruct the Village Administrator to obtain written quotations for rewiring of the Village Hall and to accept that quotation which is to the best advantage of the Village in regard to timing and price, provided that the quotation does not exceed $1,000.00. Motion carried unanimously. -1- 141 Motion by Phil Cohen and seconded by Earl Simons to approve the issuance of a fireworks permit to the St. Alphonsus Church for a fireworks display on July 30 and July 31, 1965 at 10 :00 P.M. Motion carried unaai- mously. Motion by Earl Simons and seconded by Phil Cohen to approve the bingo license for St. Alphonsus Church's annual Fun Fair. Motion carried unanimously. Motion by Phil Cohen and seconded by Earl Simons to approve the following license. Electrical License Dymanyk Electric Company 607 22nd Avenue N. E. Motion carried unanimously. The bills having been audited, Earl Simons moved and Phil Cohen seconded to order paid the bills set forth in the schedule dated July 26, 1965, ` and filed in the permanent register book. Motion carried unanimously. The Council discussed traffic considerations and their impact' on the development of Osseo Road with Mr. Ken Anderson, Traffic Engineer for the Minnesota Highway Department.
