HomeMy WebLinkAbout1965 11-15 CCM Special Session Minutes of the Proceedings of the Village 255 Council of the Village of Brooklyn Center in the County of Hennepin and State of Minnesota November 15, 1965 The Village Council met in special session and was called to order by Mayor. Gordon Erickson at 7:30 P. M. Roil Call: Present were Mayor Gordon Erickson, John Leary, Earl Simons, Phil Cohen and Howard Heck. Also present were A. J. Lee, D. G. Poss, T.L. Hadd, P.W. Holmlund, T.L. Willard, M.R. Hyde, Chief O'Hehir and Lieutenant Lindsay. Reverend Don Item of Brooklyn Center Church of Christ offered the invocation. Motion by John Leary and seconded by Phil Cohen to approve the minutes of the November 8, 1965 Council Meeting as recorded. Motion carried unanimously. Motion by Howard Heck and seconded by John Leary to accept the recommendation of the Administrator and terminate the temporary employment of Herbert Steele as a Park Department laborer, due to the completion of the budgeted program, said termination to be effective November 12, 1965. Motion carried unanimously. Motion by Phil Cohen and seconded by Earl Simons to accept the recommendation of the Administrator and Police Chief and appoint Darrell L. Garber as police steno at a beginning salary of $459.00 per month, effective November 23, 1965. Motion carried unanimously, K Member John Leary introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: F RESOLUTION NO. 65 -229 r RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING DEEP WELL IMPROVEMENT PROJECT NO. 1965 -37A (TELL # 6) AND ORDERING PREPARATION OF PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Howard Heck, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted In favor thereof: Gordon Erickson, Phil Cohen, John Leary, Earl Simons and Howard Heck, and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted. Member Earl Simons introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 65 -230 RESOLUTION APPROVING PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR DEEP WELL IMPROVEMENT NO. 1965 -37A AND DIRECTIM ADVERTISEACHT FOR BID The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded I ` by member Phil Cohen, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following f voted in favor thereof: Gordon Erickson, Phil Cohen, John Leary, Earl Simons and Howard Heck, and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted. Member Howard Heck introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 65 -231 RESOLUTION APPROPRIATING MUNICIPAL STATE AID FUNDS TO TRUNK HIGHWAY PROJECT 1 *- 4,j -ASS - 1- 2 9 The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member John Leary and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Gordon Erickson, Phil Cohen, John Leary, Earl Simons and Howard Heck, and the following: voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted. Mayor Gordon Erickson presented Certificates of Appreciation to persons who have given of their time aka, effort for the betterment of the community by serving on various Village Boards and Commissions. Motion by Phil Cohen and seconded by John Leary to accept the recommendation of the Planning Commission on Application No. 65088 sub- mitted by LeRoy Sign, Inc., and approve the applicant's request for a free standing sign for the Burger King Restaurant. Said approval shall be based upon and subject to ,the conditions and reasoning set forth in the resolution adopted by the Planning Commission on November 10, I96S, pertaining to this application. Motion carried unanimously. Motion by John Leary and seconded by Earl Simons to approve the following license: Cigarette License Iten Chevrolet Company 6301 Osseo Road (Jude Candy Company) Motion carried unanimously. Motion by John Scary and seconded by Howard Heck to authorize the Mayor and Clerk to sign the final plat of P. B.C. First Addition. Motion carried unanimously. The Council met in joint session with the Planning Commission to discuss the proposed comprehensive zoning of Brooklyn Center. f Motion by Earl Simons and seconded by John Leary to adjourn.
