HomeMy WebLinkAbout1965 11-22 CCM Regular Session 275 Minutes of the Proceedings of the Village Council of the Village of Brooklyn Center in the County of Hennepin and State of Minnesota November 22, 1965 The Village Council met in regular session and was called to order by Mayor Gordon Erickson at 7:30 P. M. Roll Call: Present were Mayor Gordon Erickson, john Leary, Earl Simons and Phil Cohen. Also present were A. J. Lee, D. G. Pons, T. L. Hadd, P.W. Holmlund, T.L. Willard and M.R. Hyde. Reverend Vick of Berean Evangelical Free Church offered the invocation. Motion by Phil Cohen and seconded by john Leary to approve the minutes of the November 15, 1965 Council Meeting as recorded. Motion carried unanimously. Motion by john Leary and seconded by Earl Simons to approve the minutes of the November 17, 1965 Council Meeting as'recorded. Mayor Erickson abstained from voting. Motion carried. Member john Leary introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 65 -232 A RESOLUTION PROVIDING FOR THE ISSUANCE AND SALE OF $190,000 LIBRARY BONDS AND $345,000 IMPROVEW,ENT JQNDS The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Phil Cohen, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Gordon Erickson, Phil Cohen, john Leary and Eorl Simons, and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted. Motion by john Leary and seconded by Earl Simons to table indefinitely, upon advice of the Attorney, Treasurer, Administrator and Bonding Consultant, any decision pertaining to the calling of certain improvement bonds. Motion carried unanimously. Motion by Phil Cohen and seconded by Earl Simons to approve the Mayor's appointment of Paul W. Ditter, 2024 Brookview Dr., as a member of the Planning Commission. Motion carried unanimously. Motion by john Leary. and seconded by Phil.Colen to accept the recommendation of the: Administrator to, terminate the employment of $ernarA Gerdts, Liquor Store Clerk, as of August 2$, 1965. Motion carried unanimously. Motion by Earl Simons and Seconded by john Leary to accept the recommendation of the Administrator and appoint Kent ,Miller, 4,46 Xenia Ave. No., as part time liquor store clerk at $1.50 per hour, effective November 17, 1965. Motion carried unanimously. - 1 - 273 Member Phil Cohen introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 65 -233 RESOLUTION ACCEPTING BID FOR THE FURNISHING AND DELIVERY OF CRUSHED ROCK SALT The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member John Leary and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof Gordon Erickson, Phil Cohen, John Leary and Earl Simons, and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted. Motion by John Leary and seconded by Earl Simons to approve the following licenses: Cigarettes License The Kroger Company 6215 Osseo Road North Non- lntcxicating Malt The Kroger Company 6215 Osseo Road North Motion carried unanimously. The Village Council discussed the proposed amendment to the Animal Control Ordinance and Village Building Code. Trustee Howard Heck arrived at the meeting at 10 :30 P.M. Member Phil Cohen introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 65 -234 RESOLUTION ACCEPTING WORK OF GENERAL CONTRACTOR ON THE BROOKLYN CENTER PUBLIC LIBRARY, WITH,. CERTAIN EKCEPTIONS The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member John Leary, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Gordon Erickson, Phil Cohen, John Leary, Earl Simons and Heard Heck, and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted. The bills having been audited, Earl Simons moved and Phil Cohen seconded to order paid the bills set forth in the schedule dated November Z2, 1965, and filed in the permanent record book. Motion carried unanimously, Motion by Howard Heck and seconded by John Leary to adjourn. Motion carried unanimously. The Village Council adjourned at 12 :25 A. M. M, r Oil Clerk
