HomeMy WebLinkAbout1965 11-29 CCM Special Session Minutes of the Proceedings of the Village Council of the Village of Brooklyn Center In the County of Hennepin and State of Minnesota November 29, 1965 The Village Council met in special session and was called to order by Mayor Gordon Erickson at 7 :30 P. M. Roll Call: Present were Mayor Gordon Erickson, John Leary, Earl Simons, Phil Cohen and Howard Heck. Also present were A. J. Lee, D. G. Poss, T. L. Hadd, P. W. Holmlund, T. L. Willard, M. R. Hyde, and Chief O'Hehir. Reverend Amos LeVang, Brooklyn Center Assembly of God, offered the invocation. Motion by Phil Cohen and seconded by John Leary to approve the minutes of the November 22, 1965 Council Meeting as recorded. Motion carried unanimously. imousl I I Y Mrs. Eva K. Fritz, Director of Relief, Suburban Hennepin County Relief Board, was introduced to the Council by Mr. Turneau, Chairman of the Relief Board. Motion by Howard Heck and seconded by John Leary to accept the recommendation of the Administrator and Chief of Police and appoint David M. Werner, 1625 Hampshire Ave. So. and David S. Shull, 5309 Hiawatha Ave. So., as police officers effective Monday, December 13, 1965. Motion carried unanimously. Motion by John Leary and seconded by Phil Cohen to accept the recommendation of the Administrator and Director of Parks and Recreation and appoint as temporary employees, the following persons to the positions and at the salaries listed, such appointments to be effective December 1, 1965, and to expire on February 28, 1966: MME POSITION RATE June Scofield Civic Chorus Director $ 7S. 00 /mo. L -1- Motion by Phil Cohen and seconded by Earl Simons to accept the recommendation of the Administrator and appoint as part time liquor store employees at $1.50 per hour, the following persons: Ronnie Grams, effective December 2, 1965 and Robert Rauner, effective December 1, 1965. Motion carried unanimously. k Motion by Howard Heck and seconded by John Leary to direct the Administrator to prepare specifications and advertise for bids on the following listed equipment, said bids to be received on December 13, 1965, at 2 :00 O'clock P. M.: ITEM DEPARTMENT 1/2 ton pick -up truck Park & Recreation 1/2 ton Van Park & Recreation 9 passenger Station Wagon Administrative Office Salt Spreader Street Division Motion carried unanimously. Motion by John Leary and seconded by Howard Heck to approve the purchase by the Fire Department Relief Association of General Obligation Bonds of The St. Paul Port Authority and Jordon School District in the amount of $2,507.58. Motion carried unanimously. The Mayor announced that the meeting was open for consideration of the rezoning request submitted in Application No. 65057. The Council received petitions from area residents opposed to rezoning, and heard state- ments from the applicant and proponents and opponents of the rezoning. Motion by John Leary and seconded by Phil Cohen to adjourn the hearing on Applications No. 65057 and 65077 until December 13, 1965 for the purpose of further review and study by the Village Council. Motion carried unanimously. Mr. Lawrence C. Brown appeared. before the Council in regard to the Chrysler rezoning Application No. 65065 and requested a definitive statement from the Council regarding when a final decision on the requested rezoning would be made. The Council informed Mr. Brown that he would be notified of the date of final Council action no later than December 3, 1965. Motion by Howard Heck and seconded by Phil Cohen to authorize the Mayor and Clerk to sign an architectural agreement with Community Planning and Design for the design of pump houses. Motion carried unanimously. Motion by Earl Simons and seconded by John Leary to authorize the Administrator to purchase a used Jeep vehicle with snow plow and snow blower attachments for the sum of $1,000.00, and further, to increase the 1965 Street Maintenance Capital Outlay appropriation in the amount of $1, 000. 00, said funds to be drawn from Unappropriated Surplus, and further, to reduce the 1966 Street Maintenance Capital Outlay appropriation in the amount of $750.00. Motion carried unanimously. Motion by John Leary and seconded by Phil Cohen to adjourn. Motion carried unanimously. The Village Council adjourned at 12 :50A.M. Mayor Clerk -2-
