Council of the Village of Brooklyn Center
In the County of Hennepin and State of
Minnesota
January 22, 1962
The Village Council met in Regular session and was called to order by
Mayor Gordon Erickson at 7 :30 P. M.
Roll Call: Carl Carlson, John Leary, Gordon Erickson, Henry Dorff and
Howard Heck were present.
Motion by Carl Carlson and seconded by Howard Heck to approve the
minutes of the Special meeting of January 15, 1962, as recorded. Motion
carried.
Member Henry Dorff introduced the following resolution and moved its
adoption:
RESOLUTION ACCEPTING BID FOR FURNISHING THREE
POLICE CARS ,
WHEREAS, the Village Administrator and Assistant Administrator have
reported that on January 15, 1962, at 2 :00 P. M. , they opened and tabulated
bids received for the furnishing of three police cars and that said bids were
as follows:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Village Council of the Village
of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, that the low bid of Osseo Motors, Osseo,
Minnesota, in the amount of $5388.70 for the furnishing of three police cars in
accordance with the specifications therefor is deemed to be the best bid sub -
mitted by a responsible bidder and said bid is hereby accepted.
The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by
member Carl Carlson, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted
in favor thereof: Carl Carlson, Henry Dorff, Gordon Erickson, Howard Heck and
John Leary; and the following voted against the same: None; whereupon said
resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
Member Howard Heck introduced the following resolution and moved its
f adoption:
RESOLUTION ACCEPTING BID FOR FURNISHING ONE CASH
REGISIER FOR ,LIQUOR STORE NO, 3
WHEREAS, the Village Administrator and Assistant Administrator have
reported that on January 22, 1962, at 2 :00 P. M. , they opened and tabulated bids
received for the furnishing of one cash register for Liquor Store No. 3 and that
said bids were as follows:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Village Council of the Village
of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, that the bid of Cash Register Sales Inc. in the
amount of $1450.00 for furnishing one cash register, reconditioned, for Liquor
Store No. 3 in accordance with the specifications therefor is deemed to be the
best bid submitted by a responsible bidder and said bid is hereby accepted.
The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by
member John Leary, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in
favor thereof: Carl Carlson, Henry Dorff, Gordon Erickson, Howard Heck and
John Leary; and the following voted against the same: None;_ whereupon said
resolution was declared duly passel and adopted.
Motion by Carl, Carlson and seconded by Howard Heck that, on the reeom-
mendation of the Village Engineer, the Street Bond for Hipp's East Palmer Lake
Addition. be reduced. from $61,200.00 to $48,900.00. Motion carried.
Motion _ by Howard Heck and seconded by Henry Dorff to take bids for a
dump truck and chip spreader for the Street Department, a sewer rodder and
pickup truck for the Sewer & hater Department, and mowing equipment for the
Park Department, said bids to be opened and read on February 5, 1962, at
10:00 A. M. Motion carried.
Motion by Henry Dorff and ,seconded by John Leary to authorize the pur-
chase of a snow plow for the Street Department and a mobile radio for the
Sewer & Water Department, the cost of each item being less :than $1004.00.
Motion carried
Member John Leary introduced the following ordinance and moved its
adoptions
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 2 OF THE VILLAGE
ORDINANCES TO PROVIDE FOR THE DISPOSAL OF ABANDONED
PB_OEE&U UTER HQIQIN - Ega JHBU MONTH
THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF BROOKLYN CENTER', MINNESOTA,
DOES ORDAIN:
Section 1. Section 2 - 101 of the Village Ordinances is hereby amended
to read as- follows.
Sp_cLigx1„2- .1.Ql,, DISPOSAL OF PROPERTY. Any personal property other
than animals or perishable property in the custody or possession of the Village
of Brooklyn Center which has been abandoned by the owner thereof or for which
no owner has been found may be dispoped of after said property has been so
held by the Village for a period of at least three' months as hereinafter provided.
Section 2, Section 2x102 of the Village Ordinances ip hereby amended

Se„g "2. NOTICE OF SALE. After the expiration of said three
.month period, a notice 1 for, the sale of said property at public auction shall be
published at least twice in the of €ioi;al newspaper of the Village, the last
publication oeing made not less than four days before the time of the proposed
sale. Said notice shall ,state the time and place of said proposed sale,. shall
,list the - property to be sold and shall state that. said property will be sold to
,the highest bidder.
Section 3. This ordinance shall be in full farce and effect from and after
a lts legal publication.
The motion for the adoption of the foregoing ordinance was duly seconded by
member Howard Heck, and upon vote being taken thereon,, -the following voted
in favor thereof: Carl Carlson, Henry Dorff, Gordon Erickson, Howard Heck and
John Leary; ante the following voted against the same: None; whereupon ,O iid
ordinance was declared duly passed and adopted.

Motion by Carl Carlson and seconded by Howard Heck to approve invest-
ment in bonds and securities of up to $20, 000.00 by the Fire Department Relief
Association. Motion carried,
Motion by Henry DOW and seconded by Carl Carlson to approve the

Motion by Howard Heck and seconded byjohn Leary to approve the following
applications for licenses:

Motion carried.
The bills having been .audited, motion was made by Carl Carlson and
seconded by Henry Dorff to order paid the bills set forth on the schedule attached
to these Minutes and made a part hereof. Motion carried.
Motion by Howard Heck and seconded by John Leary to adjourn. Motion
carried. The meeting adjourned at 10:15 P. M.
