Minnesota March 12, 1962 The Village Council met in Regular Session and was called to order by Mayor Gordon Erickson at 7 :55 P. M. Roll Call: Mayor Gordon Erickson, john Leary, and Carl Carlson were present. Motion by Carl Carlson and seconded by john Leary to approve the minutes of the regular meeting of February 26, 1962, and the minutes of the special meeting of March 5, 1962, as recorded. Motion carried. Member Carl Carlson introduced the followings resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION OF ABATEMENT OF SPECIAL ASSESSMENTS FOR PUB C - Y . IUMIE1 WAITB ON OT 1. BU&K 1 N E WHEREAS, a Public Utilities Mhter Hookup was assessed to Lot 1, Block 1, Lawnridge Addition in error, and WHEREAS, the property owner, Mr. Robert T. Basel, does not desire water service at this time, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Village ,Council of the Village of Brooklyn Canter, Minnesota to cancel from the Hennepin County tax rolls the special assessment for Levy 2514, Public Utilities Water 58 -B2 on Parcel 500, Plat 89525, Lot 1, Block 1, Lawnridge, THEREFORE, the County Auditor is authorized and directed to cancel the amount of the assessment as follows: total Prin 1 ns llment $490.00 $61.30 The Motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member john Leary, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Mayor Gordon Erickson, john Leary, and Carl Carlsson, and the following voted against the same: None, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted. Motion by Carl Carlson and seconded by john Leary to authorize the Village Administrator to advertise for bids for an electric jackhammer and generator Bids to be received at 2 :00 P. M. on April X, 1962. Motion carried. 9 Member john Leary introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption. RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PURCHASE OF IMPELLERS AND L40DIFLQA MON E&Tj F R CHI A O ELIMP WHEREAS, Waldor Pump and Equipment Company is the exclusive distributor of parts for the modification of sewage lift station pumps (Chicago Pump Company Model No. VOSOLIO, Serial No. A9361 Rev.) ; and WHEREAS, it has been determined it is necessary to increase the pump capacity of the sewage lift station pumps in Lift Station No. 1; BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED that the Village of Brooklyn Center purchase from Waldor Pump and Equipment Company the following parts: 141 1. Two new impellers for design capacity of 3700 gpm vs. 62. 2. Four total upper and lower bearings and seals . 3. Two shaft sleeves. 4. Two sets of packing. The cost of the above designated parts to be $1576. 54 in accordance with the quotation of Waldor Pump and Equipment Company dated March 7, 1962. The Motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Carl Carlson, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Gordon Erickson, John Leary, and Carl Carlson, and the following voted against the same; None; whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted. Clerk Henry Dorff and Trustee Howard Heck arrived at 8:25 P. M. Member Carp; Carlson introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION ORDERING CONSTRUCTION OF MODIFICATION OF SV , WAGE LIFT STATION NO. I IMPROVEMENT NO. 1962 -13, = _ QRIDENNQ M§EAMLON 9,F Pj&NS ANQ S INCA WHEREAS,. the maximum capacity of the existing Sewage Lift Station No. 1 at 6112 Vincent Avenue North will be reached in 1962; and " WHEREAS, the Village of Brooklyn Park has been alloted 2.43 C. F. S. through Lift Station No. 1 and is proposing to connect to the Brooklyn Center system this year; and WHEREAS, the Village of Brooklyn Park will reimburse the Village of Brooklyn Center for the costs of increasing the capacity of Sewage Lift Station No. 1, THEREFORE, it is determined that it is necessary and in the best interest of the Village that the following improvement be constructed; MODIFICATION OF SEWAGE LIFT STATION NO. 1 and the plans and specifications for said improvement shall be prepared by the Village Engineer. The motion for adoption of the forgoing resolution was duly seconded by member john Leary, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Mayor Gordon Erickson, john Leary, Henry Dorff , Howard Heck, and Carl Carlson, and the following voted against the same: None; whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted. Member john Leary introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION APPROVING PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR MODIFICATION OF SEWAGE LIFT STATION NO. 1 IMPROVE ME NO 1262-13 A NQ DIUCTIN APVERTjSVh4ENj Fga B BE IT RESOLVED by the Village Council of the Village of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, as follows: 1. The plans and specifications for the following improvement, prepared by the Village Engineer are hereby approved and ordered filed with the Clerk. Project No. 1962 -13 Modification of Sewage Lift Station No. 1 (6112 Vincent Avenue North) . 143 2. The Clerk shall advertise for bids for such improvement by publication at least once in the official newspaper and in the Construction Bulletin, the date of first publication not less than 10 days prior to the date for receipt of bids. Said notice shall state that no bids will be considered unless sealed and filed and accompanied by a cash deposit, bid bond, cashier's check or certified check payable to the Clerk in the amount of not less than five percent of the bid. 3. Bid date is set for March 26, 1962 at 10 :00 o`clock A. M. 4. The Village Administrator and Village Enineer shall be authorized to open and tabulate the bids. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly passed by member Howard Heck, and upon vote being taken thereon the following voted in favor thereof; Mayor Gordon Erickson, john Leary, Henry Dorff, Howard Heck, and Carl Carlson and the following voted against the same: None, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted. Member Carl Carlson introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: k RESOLUTION APPROVING LAYOUT OF u VE ER N E Al F A 94 WHEREAS, the Brooklyn Center Village Council has previously approved the alignment of F:A.1. 94 from Lyndale Avenue North to the west Village limits, and WHEREAS, the Council has declared its intent to design Xerxes Avenue North to State Aid standards, and WHEREAS, it is the opinion of the Village Planning Commission and the Village Council that the proposed interchange at Xerxes Avenue North and F.A.I. 94 will serve the interests of the Village, 1 4 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Village Council of the Village of Brooklyn Center hereby approves the preliminary layout of the h.:alf- diamond interchange at Xerxes Avenue North and V.A. 1. 94, said 4nter change to be located approximately 400 feet east of the east line of Section 34 Township 119 North Range 21 West. Be it further resolved that the Village Council hereby emphasizes its previous request that the Minnesota Highway Department give due consideration in the design of F. A. I. 94 to accommodate a future grade separation in an area between Shingle Creek and Humboldt Avenue C North. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Howard Heck, and upon vote being taken thereon the following voted in favor thereof: Mayor Gordon Erickson, john Leary, Henry Dorff, Howard Heck, and Carl Carlson, and the following voted against the same: None, whereupon said resolution was duly passed and adopted. The Bills having been audited, motion was made by john Leary and seconded by Henry Dorff to order paid the bills set forth in the schedule attached to these minutes and made a part thereof. Motion carried. Member Carl Carlson introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING LOAD LIMITS N S RE !2r. BROO CENTER BE IT RESOLVED by the Village of Brooklyn Center that the legal load limit on the streets of the Village of Brooklyn Center shall be (4) tons per axle, beginning on March 14, 1962 and continuing until such time as Hennepin County shall remove load restrictions from county roads. The motion for the. adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Howard Heck, and upon vote being taken thereon the following voted in favor thereof; Mayor Gordon Erickson, john Leary, Howard Heck, Henry Dorff, and Carl Carlson and the following voted against the same: None, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
