HomeMy WebLinkAbout1962 03-26 CCM Regular Session 18 Minutes of the Proceedings of the Village Council of the Village of Brooklyn Center in the County of Hennepin and State of Minnesota March 26, 1962 The Village Council met in Regular Session and was called to order by Mayor Gordon Erickson at 7 :30 P. M. Roll Gall: Mayor Gordon Erickson, Carl Carlson, John Leary, Henry Dorff, and Howard Heck were present. Motion by Carl Carlson and seconded by John Leary to approve the minutes of the regular meeting of March 12, and special meeting of March 10, with the corrections made in the March 12th minutes. Motion carried. Member John Leary introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION ACCEPTING BIDS FOR GASOLINE, FUEL OIL E OR MAJING = DIESEL F UZL OIL WHEREAS, the Village Administrator and Assistant Administrator have reported that on March 12, 1962, at 2 :00 P. M., they opened and tabulated bids received for the furnishing of gasoline, fuel oil, and diesel fuel oil and that said bids were as follows: Regular Fuel Diesel so ine Oil Euel Ford Deep Rock - - - -- 11.95 11.95 Mobil Oil Co. 15.80 12.0 12.0 Sinclair Refining Co. 18.06 11.19 11.19 Skelly Oil Co. 17.9 12.8 12.8 Midland Co -op 16.659 11.795 11.795 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Village of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, that the low bid of the Mobil Oil Co. in the amount of 15.8fi per gallon for regular gasoline in accordance with the specifications is deemed to be the best bid submitted by a responsible bidder and said bids is hereby accepted. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Village of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota that the low bid of Sinclair Refining Co. in the amount of 11.190 per gallon for Fuel Oil and 11.194 per gallon for Diesel Fuel in accordance with the specifications is deemed to be the best bid submitted by a responsible bidder and said bid is hereby accepted. Motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Carl Carlson, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Gordon Erickson, John Leary, Howard Heck, Henry Dorff, and Carl Carlson, and the following voted against the same: None whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted. Member Howard Heck introduced the following resolution and moved Its adoption: -1- 1-79 RESOLUTION ACCEPTING BID FOR FURNISHING BITUMINOUS OIL WHEREAS, the Village Administrator and Assistant Administrator have reported that on March 12, 1962, at 2 :00 P. m., they opened and tabulated bids received for the furnishing of bituminous oil and that said bids were as follows. H. Barber Co. for furnish- ing MC 3 Delivered, MC 3Picked up, MC 0 Delivered, MC 0 Picked up RC 3 Delivered and RC 3 Picked up in accordance with the specifications is deemed to be the best bid submitted by a responsible bidder and said bid is hereby accepted. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Village Council of the Village of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota that the low bid of L. N. Sickels Co. for furnishing RS 3k, RS 2k Delivered and RS 3k and RS 2k picked up in accordance with the specifications is deemed to be the best bid submitted by a responsible bidder and said bid is hereby accepted. Motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Carl Carlson, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Gordon Erickson, john Leary, Howard Heck, Henry Dorff, and Carl Carlson, and the following voted against the same: None, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted. Member Henry Dorff introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION ACCEPTING BID FOR STABILIZED GRAVEL AND FINE AGGREGATE FOR SEAL COAT (PRICE PER TON) WHEREAS, the Village Administrator and Assistant Administrator have reported that on March 12, 1962, at 2 :00 P. Motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Carl Carlson, and upon vote taken thereon., the following voted in favor thereof: Gordon Erickson, Henry Dorff, John Leary, Howard Heck,, and Carl Carlson, and the following voted against the same: None, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted. Motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member John Leary, and upon vote taken thereon, the following voted in favor -3- 175 thereof: Gordon Erickson, Henry Dorff, Howard Heck, Carl Carlson, and John Leary, and the following voted against the same: None; whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted. Member Carl Carlson introduced the following resolution and. moved Its adoption: RESOLUTION ACCEPTING BID FOR FURNISHING A TWO DOOR POLICE PATROL CAR, WHEREAS, the Village Administrator and Assistant Administrator have reported that on March 12, 1962, at 2 :00 P.M. , they opened and tabulated bids received for the furnishing of a Two Door Police Patrol Car, and that said bids were as follows: Steenerson Motor Co. 1962 SF 4 Studebaker Lark $1871.83 (add $35.00 for heavy duty police patrol special) Broadway Automotive 1962 Valiant - Two Door 1960.64 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Village Council of the Village of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, that the low bid of Steenerson Motor Company to furnish a Heavy Duty Police Patrol Special 1962 Studebaker Lark in the sum of $1906.83 in accordance with the specifications is deemed to be the best bid submitted by a responsible bidder and said bid is hereby accepted. Motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Henry Dorff and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Gordon Erickson, John Leary, Henry Dorff, Howard Heck and Carl Carlson, and the following voted against the same: None; whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted. Mayor Erickson appointed Chester Carlock as Chairman of the Govern - ment Study Committee. Motion by Howard Heck and seconded by Carl Carlson to accept the recommendation of the Village Administrator to appoint Louis Hartmann as Weed inspector for 1962 at a wage of $1.50 an hour plus mileage. Motion carried. Motion by john. Leary and seconded by Henry Dorff to appoint Mrs. Helen Ammend as clerk - typist at $268.00 a month. Motion carried. Motion by Howard Heck and seconded by john Leary to accept the resignation of Mrs. Edith Lefonvarn. Motion carried. Motion by Carl Carlson and seconded Howard Heck approve the signing of the contract with Mr. Paulson, the Dog Catcher, by Mayor Gordon Erickson and Clerk Henry Dorff. Motion carried. Motion by John Leary. And seconded. by Howard Heck to designate the Brooklyn Center State Bank as the Village's official depository for Liquor Store Accounts. Motion carried. Motion by Howard Heck and seconded by Carl Carlson to authorize Mayor Gordon Erickson and Clerk Henry Dorff to execute a deed, for a part of Lots 31 and 32 Auditors Subdivision 1 - n 8, for County Road right-of-way of -way r tY 9 pu rp o ses, to Hennepin County. Motion Carried. Motion by Carl Carlson and seconded by Howard Heck to authorize the Village Engineer to offer $7, 000.00 for the acquisition of right -of -way for County Road 10 improvement - across the property of Gust Anderson on the Southeast corner of 58th Avenue North and Osseo Road. The bills having been audited, motion was made by Carl Carlson and seconded by Howard Heck to order paid the bills set forth in the schedule attached to these minutes and made a part thereof. Motion carried. Motion by Carl Carlson and seconded by Howard Heck to approve the investment by the Brooklyn Center Fire Departybent Relief Ass' n in a $6, 000.00 certificate of deposit with the Brooklyn Center State Bank at 4%.
