HomeMy WebLinkAbout1962 08-20 CCM Special Session 215 Minutes of the Proceeding of the Village Council of the Village of Brooklyn Center In the County of Hennepin and State I of Minnesota August 24, 1962 The Village Council met in Special Session and was called to order by Mayor Goo- on Erickson at 7:40 P. M. Roll Call: Mayor Gordon Erickson, John Leary, Howard Heck Carl Carlson, and Henry Dorff were present. Motion by Carl Carlson and seconded by Howard Heck to approve the minutes of the Regular Meeting of August 13, 1962 as corrected. Motion carried. Member Henry Dorff abstained from voting since he was not present at the Council meeting, Motion by Howard Heck and seconded by Henry Dorff to instruct the Village Administrator to sent a condolence from the Village Council to the family of Merton Lane former Mayor of Brooklyn Center. Motion carried. j Member Howard Heck introduced the following ordinance and moved ` its adoption: AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 35 OF THE VILLAGE ORDINANCES AX I - The Village Council of the Village of Brooklyn Center ordains as follows: 35 of ion 1. A new section 35 -234 is here added to ch .�:�� by the Village of Brooklyn Center Ordinances: Section 35 -234. Revocation of a Zoning Classification, Where Property has been rezoned for a less restrictive land use upon petition of the owner or his agent pursuant to provisions of this ordinance and where no structural work thereon has commenced within two years of the date of the rezoning action by the Village Council, the rezoning shall be reviewed by the Planning Commission. The Village Council, after hearing recommenoatiorq from the Planning Commission, shall reaffirm the rezoning action or rezone the property for some other land use, including more restrictive uses, if this will in its judgment promote the public health, safety, and general welfare as described In Section 35 -101. The Council may establish time limitations on reaffirmations Of rezoning action, after which time it shall again be reviewed by the Planning Commission. This is not intended to preclude in any way the right of the Planning Commissoot. or Village Council to review any land use or change any zoning classification to the extent permitted by the Statutes of the State of Minnesota. S®ction 2. This ordinance shall take affect from and after its legal publication. Passed by the Village Council this 20th day of August 1962. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing ordinance was duly seconded by member Carl Carlson and upon vote being taken thereon the following voted in favor therof: Gordon Erickson, Carl Carlson, Henry Dorff, John Leary and Howard Heck and the following voted against the same: None; whereupon said ordinance was declared duly passed and ad Motion by Carl Owlson and seconded by John Leary to uphold the action of the Planning Commission and approve as a Guide Plan the proposed -1- 213 street layout for the area bounded by Humboldt Avenue, 73rd Avenue, Logan Avenue and 69th Avenue as recommended by the Planning Commission. Motion carried. Motion by Carl Carlson and seconded by Howard Heck to distribute to the Press a statement concerning the source of water supply for the Village of Brooklyn Center Water System. Motion carried. I Motion by John Leery and seconded by Howard Heck to adjourn. Motion carried. The Village Council adjourned at 11:30 P. M. I Mayor Clerk -2-
