The Evolution of The Program: 2011-Beginning in April through September, the Housing  Commission will deliver bags twice per month from 6:00 pm-8:00 pm, compared to once per month last year. Dana Anderson, Manager of Cub, has generously agreed to  provide reusable earth friendly Cub bags indefinitely. The Housing Commission is grateful for the cooperation  our Police Department has provided in assistance with the bag distribution, this year the Housing Commission will invite Neighborhood Watch Captains to assist with the bag delivery greeting. We appreciate their support! Creating Volunteer Opportunities: A partnership with Brooklyn Center High School is  well underway. Superintendent Lester supports the idea of High School students helping our commission. One very beneficial component is the students will  collate the bags at the supervision of Jodi Rossi. The Housing Commission will invite interested HS  students to join a Commissioner and a Watch Captain to assist with the bag delivery and greetings. The goal is to provide High School students volunteer  opportunities they might not otherwise have. The Future of the New Neighbor Welcome Program: This program is still in its infancy, and will continue to  evolve and grow. This year will allow the Commission an opportunity to  refine the process and develop best practices. Support from within the community and outside our  city’s borders has been incredible. Increased awareness and support will yield more  positive press, assisting in improving the image of our city. COMMUNITY GARDENS Strategic Goal #3: We will stabilizeand improve residential  neighborhoods. Strategic Goal #4: We will positively address the  community demographic make up and increasing cultural diversity. Strategic Goal #6: We will respond to increased public  awareness and interest in environmental sustainability and green community issues. The Housing Commission believes that implementing  community gardens will help facilitate all of these goals! It is the resolve of the Housing Commission that  plans for implementation of community garden(s) is completed by January 2012. The Housing Commission realizes that our city is one  of the few that does not have community gardens. With the vast number of parks within our city, the  Housing Commission believes that may be one of the best places to implement a pilot project. The Housing Commission is willing to share  information already obtained regarding community gardens and address City Council and City Staff. In Conclusion: On behalf of the Housing Commission, I would like to  thank you for the opportunity to share how we can help the city in achieving its goals. I am very proud of the accomplishments of our commission  this past year! I am very pleased with the support of all of you and the partnerships that have been established. This group of Commissioners is amazing, they chose to  embrace the New Neighbor Welcome Program and add an additional 4 hours to the initial 1.5 hour volunteer commitment~ per month! That is an additional 24 hours during the 6 months of bag  delivery dates. ͽ±°» ̸» ͽ±°» ±º ß½¬·ª·¬§ ±º ̸· ݱ³³··±² ͸¿´´ ݱ²·¬ ±º ß¼ª··²¹ ¬¸» Ý·¬§ ݱ«²½·´ ¿²¼ Ѭ¸»® Þ®±±µ´§² Ý»²¬»® ß¼ª·±®§ ݱ³³··±² λ¹¿®¼·²¹ Ó¿¬¬»® λ´»ª¿²¬ ¬± ¬¸» ݱ²»®ª¿¬·±²ô п®µ ¿²¼ λ½®»¿¬·±² Ú«²½¬·±²ò Ы®°±» ̸» Ù»²»®¿´ Ы®°±» ±º ̸· ݱ³³··±² × ¬± Ó±²·¬±® ¿²¼ λº´»½¬ ¬¸» ߬¬·¬«¼» ¿²¼ ݱ²½»®² ±º ¬¸» Ý·¬·¦»² ±º Þ®±±µ´§² Ý»²¬»® λ´¿¬·ª» ¬± ¬¸» ݱ²»®ª¿¬·±² ±º Û²ª·®±²³»²¬¿´ λ±«®½» ·² ¬¸» Ý·¬§ ±º Þ®±±µ´§² Ý»²¬»® ¿²¼ ¬± ¬¸» п®µ ͧ¬»³ ¿²¼ λ½®»¿¬·±² Ю±¹®¿³ ¿²¼ ¬± ß¼ª·» ¬¸» Ý·¬§ ݱ«²½·´ ±º Ý·¬·¦»² ߬¬·¬«¼» ¿²¼ б´·½§ Ó¿¬¬»® λ´»ª¿²¬ ¬± ¬¸» ݱ²»®ª¿¬·±²ô п®µ ¿²¼ λ½®»¿¬·±² Ú«²½¬·±² ·² Þ®±±µ´§² Ý»²¬»® ò ß®ª·¼ øÞ«¼÷ ͱ®»²±² ÐòÍòßò ××× Ý¸¿·®°»®±² ̸±³¿ ͸·²²·½µ ÐòÍòßò × Ê·½» ݸ¿·®°»®±² Ù¿·´ Û¾»®¬ ÐòÍòßò ×× Î±¹»® 묻®±² ÐòÍòßò ×× Ó«®·»´ Ô»» ÐòÍòßò ××× Ü¿² ͬ¿®´·²¹ ÐòÍòßò ×Ê Ö±¸² Ϋ»´´ ÐòÍòßò Ê Ý±«²½·´ Ô·¿·±² Ü¿² Χ¿² ͬ¿ºº Ô·¿·±² Ö·³ Ù´¿±» ßÜÑÐÌóßóÐßÎÕ ÐÎÑÙÎßÓ Ó¿®´·² ¿²¼ Ô¿µ»·¼» í Ì·³» Ç»¿®´§ îðïïóîðîë ÝßÐ×ÌßÔ ×ÓÐÎÑÊÛÓÛÒÌÍ ÐÎÑÙÎßÓó д¿²²»¼ п®µ ׳°®±ª»³»²¬ ÌÉ×Ò ÔßÕÛÍ ÎÛÙ×ÑÒßÔ ÌÎß×Ô ÓßÍÌÛÎ ÐÔßÒó̸® 窻® п®µ Ü·¬®·½¬ ßÓÐØ×ÌØÛßÌÛÎ ÜÛÍ×ÙÒñÔÑÝßÌ×ÑÒ ÎÛÒßÓ×ÒÙ ÑÚ ÝÛÒÌÎßÔ ÐßÎÕ ÌÑ ÝÛÒÌÛÒÒ×ßÔ Ð ÌÑÞßÝÝÑ ÚÎÛÛ ÐßÎÕÍ ÐÑÔ×ÝÇ ÝÑÒÍ×ÜÛÎßÌ×ÑÒ ßÒÒËßÔ ÐßÎÕÍ ÌÑËÎ Ó±²·¬±® Ѳ¹±·²¹ ÝòßòÎòÍ ß½¬·ª·¬·» ¿²¼ Ý¿°·¬¿´ ׳°®±ª»³»²¬ д¿² ß²²«¿´ п®µ ̱«® ߬¬»²¼ Ý·¬§ Ò»·¹¸¾±®¸±±¼ Ó»»¬·²¹ ̱¾¿½½± Ú®»» п®µóб´·½§ λ½±³³»²¼¿¬·±² îðïï ͬ®¿¬»¹·½ д¿² ײª±´ª»³»²¬ ÍòÙòì ø¼ò±òî÷ Í«½½» Ì¿®¹»¬ ïò ß´´ §±«¬¸ ©¸± ¼»·®» ¬± ©·´´ ¾» °®±¼«½¬·ª»´§ »²¹¿¹»¼ ·² ®»½®»¿¬·±²¿´ ¿½¬·ª·¬·» ±® »¼«½¿¬·±²¿´ °®±¹®¿³ò îò ﮬ·½·°¿¬·±² ·² ½±³³«²·¬§ °®±¹®¿³ ¿²¼ ¿½¬·ª·¬·» ©·´´ ®»º´»½¬ ¬¸» ¼»³±¹®¿°¸·½ ³¿µ»«° ±º ¬¸» ½±³³«²·¬§ò ÍòÙòë ø¼ò±òï÷ Í«½½» Ì¿®¹»¬ ïò Ý«¬±³»® °®±ª·¼» °±·¬·ª» º»»¼¾¿½µ °»®¬¿·²·²¹ ¬± Ý·¬§ º¿½·´·¬·» ø½´»¿²ô ¿¬¬®¿½¬·ª» ¾«·´¼·²¹÷ò îò Ó¿·²¬¿·² °«¾´·½ ¿½½» ¿²¼ ¿ª¿·´¿¾·´·¬§ ¬± Ý·¬§ °¿®µ º¿½·´·¬·» ¿²¼ ·²º®¿¬®«½¬«®»ò rML 0 p U 0 LL hL :> CL p M GJ O L d City of Brooklyn Center Comprehensive Plan Update . . . .. if r Ib r r Ji1N1w a r r 1' .7' e e Ike.it ' ■ 4'k Sim Ow- 4i - r A :F M i IJLTRmt cif ) Of POTE B Center CONNECTION TID BROOKLYN BLYp. so tl Fi,gurc-2-1 i. {NORTH HENNEPIN DARE 41 l PLLi17111178 ISSliC'S . — I694f.I- 4 SHIWLE CR#EK HUMBULDT AVE.
