Home My WebLink About1960 07-07 CCM Special Session Minutes of the Proceedings of the Village Council at a Special Meeting in the Village of Brooklyn Center, County of D !=gin, State of Minnesota July 7, 1960 The Village Council met at Earle Brown School in Special Session and was called to order by Mayor William Super at 8:15 p.m. Roll Call: William Super, Wayne Gageby, Clifford Wellman, Russ Jones were present. Trustee Carl Carlson was absent. The Mayor announced that the meting was open for the consideration of proposed Street Surfacing Improvement No. 1960 -58. The Clerk produced an affidavit of publication of notice of hearing on the proposed improvement showing two weeks' publication thereof in the official newspaper, the last publication being on June 30, 1960, which affidavit was examined and found satisfactory and ordered placed on file. The Mayor then called upon all property owners present to present arguments either for or'Against the proposed improvement. After hearing and considering all objections, and the property owners appearing in favor of said improve- went, member Wayne Gageby introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION ORDERING CONSTRUCTION OF STREET SURFACING IlaROmm No. 1960 -58 ADS? ORDERINQ PPIEPARATION OF PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS BE IT RESOLVED by the Village Council of the Village of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, as follows: 1. The plans and specifications for said improvement shall be prepared by the Village Engineer. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Clifford Wellman, and upon vote being taken thereon the following voted in favor thereof: William Super, Clifford Wellman, Wayne Gsgeby, Russ Jones, and the following voted against the same: None; whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted. Member Clifford Wellman introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION PROVIDIXG FOR PUBLIC NEARING ON PROPOSED WATER 1WROVFN.T N0. 1960 -61 WHEREAS, it is proposed that there be constructed an improvement consisting of the following: Construction of Water Mains and appurtenance, storage tank, and wells to serve the area bounded as follows: On the North by Highway #100, on the East by the Mississippi River, on the South by 53rd Avenue, and on the West by Shingle Creek. WH&VJ3, the Village Engineer has made a preliminary report advising that said proposed improvement is feasible and that it can be con- structed at an estimated cost of $1,160,000.00. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Village Council of the Village of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, as follows: ,_2_ 1. The Council =see to proceed under authority granted by Chapter 398, Laws of sotaj 1953, as amended. 2. A public hesWing on the proposed improvement shall be held' at the Earle Brown School; in the Village on Thursday, the 11th day of August, 1960, at 8:00 o'clock p.m. and the Cie ir k shall publish notice of'the time and place of hearing on two weeks* publication in the official newspaper of the Village: 3 The area proposed to be assessed for said Uvrowement is as follows: All lots and parcels abutting streets in which the water mains are constructed. 4.. This proposed improvement shall be designated Water Improvement No. 1960 -61: The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Wayne Gageby, and upon vote being taken thereon the following voted in favor thereof: William.Super, Wayne Gageby Clifford Wellman, Russ Jones, and the following voted against the same. None; whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted. Motion by Russ Jones and seconded by Clifford Wellman to adjourn. Motion carried. Mayor cl -3-
