HomeMy WebLinkAbout1959 10-07 CCM Special Session Minutes of the Proceedings of the Village Council of the Village of Brooklyn Center in the County of Hennepin and State of Minnesota, including all accounts audited by said Council. October 7, 1959 The Village Council met in special session and was called to order by Mayor William Super at 8:05 P.M. Roll Call: Mayor Super, Carl Carlson, Wayne Gageby and Russ Jones were present; Clifford Wellman was absent. Member Wayne Gageby introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION APPROVING 1960 BUDGET AND AUTHORIZING A LEVY THEREFOR BE IT RESOLVED by the Village Council of the Village of Brooklyn Center as follows: 1. There is hereby appropriated for expenditure in 1960 from general taxes, the following sums for the purposes indicated: Village Operations and Administration $287,260.90 Poor Relief 7 Firemen's Relief Association 16,100.00 Parks 16,100.0 Public Employees Retirement Association 14,468.67 County Parks 771.12 $341j The foregoing does not include levies already certified to the County Auditor for the payment of outstanding loans which levies for the year 1960 are as follows: Certificates of Indebtedness (Bonds & Interest) 35,272-00 State Loan 1 1 632,50 Park Bond Redemption 25,900-00 Total expenditures for the year 1960 from general taxes $404,669.69 2. There is hereby levied upon all taxable property Lying within the Village of Brooklyn Center, in addition to all levies heretofore certified to the County Auditor as indicated in paragraph l hereof, the sum of $404,669.69 and the Clerk shall cause a, copy of this resolution to be certified to the County Auditor, so that said sum shall be spread upon the tax rolls and wil l. be payable in the year 1960. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Carl Carlson, and upon vote being taken thereon the following voted in favor thereof: William N. Super, Wayne Gageby, Carl Carlson and Russ Jones and the following voted against the same: None; whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted. Member Clifford Wellman received and approved the above budget as per letter on file, Motion by Russ Jones and seconded by Carl Carlson to instruct the Village Administrator to draw specifications and advertise for bids, said bids to be let on October 27, 1959 at 2 :00 o'clock P.M., to be opened by Village Administrat or and Purchasing Agent for 2 - 2J to 3 ton trucks, one pick -up truck and one police car. Motion carried= P �r1�tyC Motion 15y Carl Carlson seconded by Wayne Gageby that we approve the purchas f 3.49 acres of land on the southeast corner of County Road 18 and Soo Line Tracks, the above land under option of the Suburban Sanitary Disposal Authority.
