HomeMy WebLinkAbout1959 12-08 CCM Special Session-Election Canvass I December 8, 1959 Pursuant to due call and notice the meeting of the Village Council of the Village of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, was duly held at the Vil3rge Hall on the 8th day of December, 1959 at 10 :45 P.M. The following members were present: William N. Super, Clifford Wellman, Carl Carlson and Wayne Gageby, Clerk Russ Jones was absent. In the absence of Clerk Russ Jones, Administrator A. J. Lee acted as clerk. CANVASS BOARD MEETING The Mayor announced that the order of business was the consideration of the returns of the Village Election held December 8, 1959. The offices up for election were Mayor, Trustee, Treasurer, and Justice of Peace, and a referendum regarding an increase in the salaries of the Mayor and trustees. The results are as follows: For the Office of Mayor: Stuart Buck Received 740 Marvin L. Ludwig 342 William N. Super " 769 For Office of Trustee: Carl C. Carlson " 815 Neil E. Chapman " 172 Howard W. Heck " 610 John P. Mason " 239 For the Office of Treasurer: Victor A. Ehrenberg " 1603 Les Hagen " 1 Pat Piehl " 1 For the office of Justice of Peace Raymond Be Benson " 1661 Fred Oslund " 1 For the Referendum Question Voting Yes 655 Voting No 1090 After completing the foregoing canvass, member Carl Carlson introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: BE IT RESOLVED by the Village Council that it is hereby determined upon the foregoing canvass that the following are hereby declared the duly elected officials: Mayor William N. Super Trustee Carl C. Carlson Village Treasurer Victor A. Ehrenberg Justice of Peace Raymond Be Benson BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, with respect to the vote upon the question of approving the ordinance adopted by the Village Council on October 13, 1959 increasing the salary of Mayor to $1800 per year and the salary of each trustee to $1560., said ordinance is declared to have been disapproved. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Clifford Wellman and upon vote being taken thereon the following • -1- voted in favor thereof: William N. Super, Clifford Wellman., Carl Carlson., Wayne Gageby; and the following voted against the same: None; whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
