HomeMy WebLinkAbout1958 06-10 CCM Regular Session Minutes of the proceeding of the Village Council of the Village of Brooklyn Center In the County of Hennepin and State of Minnesota, including all accounts audited by said Council. June 10, 1958 The Village Council met in regular session and was called to order by William N. Super, Mayor, at 8:00 o'clock p.m. Roll Call: William N. Super, Clifford Wellman, Wayne Gageby, Carl Carlson, and Russ Jones were present. Motion made by Wayne Gageby and seconded by Carl Carlson that the Village Council approve the minutes of the special meeting of May 20, 1958 and the regular meeting of May 27, 1958. The minutes were approved as recorded. Motion carried. Member Carl Carlson introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION ACCEPTING BID AND APPROVING CONTRACT FORM WHEREAS, the Village Engineer has reported that on June 10, 1958 at 2 o'clock P.M., he opened and tabulated the bids received for Sanitary Sewer Improvement No. 1958 -19 and Water Main Improvement No. 1958 -20 and that said bids were as follows: No. 1 - Petrowske & Ross 195819 $4,789.95 1958 - 2 0 $7,671.65 Total: $12 0 461.6o No. 2 - Me Williams Plumbing & Heating 1958 -19 $5 1958 -20 $8,094.35 . Total: $13 :7 No. 3 - Randall Brothers 1958 -19 18,078-00 5,807.85 1958 -20 Total: $13,885.85 NOW, THEREFORE.. BE IT RESOLVED by the Village Council of the Village of Brooklyn Center, as follows: The bid of Petrowske & Ross as to the furnishing of all work, labor, and materials in connection with Sanitary Sewer Improve - ment No. 1958 -19 and Water Main Improvement No. 1958 -20, according to the plans and specifications therefor now on file in the Office of Village Clerk, is deemed to be the lowest and best bid submitted for said work by a responsible bidder, and said bid is hereby accepted. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Clifford Wellman, and upon being taken thereon the follow- ing voted in favor thereof: William N. Sirper, Clifford Wellman, Wayne Gageby, Carl Carlson, and Russ Jones; and the following voted against the same: None; whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted. Motion made by Wayne Gageby and seconded by Russ Jones that the Village Council uphold the recozrmendation of the Planning Commission and grant a variance to Richard J. Gziswold, 6318 June Avenue North, allowing him to build an attached garage 3' from property line, lotion carried. Motion made by Carl Carlson and seconded by Russ Jones that the Village Council uphold the recommendation of the Planning Commission and grant a variance to Robert Kolstad, 5706 Knox Avenue North, allowing him to build a garage 2' from property line. Motion carried. Motion made by Carl Carlson and seconded by Wayne Gageby that the Village Council uphold the recommendation of the Planning Commission and approve the proposed plat submitted by Frank Burch of the property on the Southwest corner of 61st Avenue North and June Avenue North. Motion carried. Motion made by Carl Carlson and seconded by Wayne Gageby that the Village Council table action on the proposed master plan submitted by Lyle Brandon of the property East of Lyndale Avenue North between 70th Avenue North and 73rd Avenue North. Motion carried. Motion made by Russ Jones and seconded by Wayne Gageby that the Village Council uphold the recommendation of the Planning Commission and grant a variance to L. G. Wichmann to build a garage 1 foot 9 inches from the West property line at 2813 Nash Road. Motion carried. Met. =on made by Russ Jones and seconded by Wayne Gageby that the, Village Council approve the following license applications: Cigarette: National Tea Co. 6801 Osseo Road Non- Intoxicating Malt Liquor: National Tea Co. 6801. Osseo Road Electrical: Blix & Neslund Electric Co. 2418 Riverside Ave,. Well Drilling: E. S, Stiles & Sons 6449 Girard Ave.So. Motion carried. Motion made by Wayne Gageby and seconded by Russ Jones that the Village Council refund W. E. Lessard the amount of $27.33, which re- presents the overpayment on 1956 and 1957 tax statements, on parcel 4660, Section 1, 5610 Humboldt Avenue North. A statement of payment of Storm Sewer # assessment was sent to County Auditor, December 31, 195 but inadvertantly was not dropped from the tax rolls until corrected by' recent audit. Motion carded. Motion made by Russ Jones and seconded by Carl Carlson that the Village Council approve the final plat of Bergstrom's Lynside Manor 2nd Addition; subject to all restrictions of the platting ordinance and bond being posted. Motion carried. Motion made by Wayne Gageby and seconded by Russ Jones that the Village Council accept the easement of Kenneth L. Bergstrom Construction Corporation, for deepening, widening, and maintaining an existing ditch located upon that part of the Southeast Quarter of the Southwest Quarter of the Southeast Quarter, Section 33, Townshfp 11.9, Range 21,, excluded from the plat of Derg:s U; rnx's Lynside Manor 2nd Addition. Motion. carried. Mo -lon made by Russ Tones and seconded by Wayne Gageby that the Village Council. accept the deed of Frank, Waite and Angellne Waite, for street purposes on the Wes, 30 feet of the West one -half (1/2) of the South );fait one quarter (;_/1t.) of the South Fast on,-- r,,i?art(ar. (l. /4) o Section 33, Township 119, lRauge 21. (Reg(.7A Avenue'). Motion carried. Motion made by Wa,yue Gageby aLO. seconded by Cpxl Carlson that the Village Council accept the final plat of Donnays Brook Lyn Gardens 2nd Addition; subject to all restrictions of the platting ordinance and bond being posted. Motion carried. Motion made by Wayne Gageby to commit the Village of Brooklyn Center to make the following baprovemeuts in accordance with the resolu- tion heretofore identified as Imp )°ovement Committments for VA Loan Purposes. Said resolution shall have inserted in it the following: -2- Property to be improved: Donnays Brook Lyn Gardens Estimated Cost: $18,348.00 Date of Completion: 12 months Improvements to be Made: Street surfacing, planting of trees, and boulevard sod, rear lot svalep and installation of street signs on all streets within Donnays Brook Lyn Gardens. Builder: Donnay Construction The foregoing motion was duly seconded by member Clifford Wellman, and upon vote being taken thereon the following voted in favor thereof: William N. Super, Clifford Wellman, Wayne Gageby, Carl Carlson, and Russ Jones; and the following voted against the same; None; whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted. Motion made by Russ Jones and seconded by Carl Carlson that the Village Council authorize reimbursement to employees for the cost of parking their own automobiles in parking spaces while on official busineaL for the Village. Motion carried. Motion made by Carl Carlson and seconded by Wayne Gageby that the Village Council accept the recommendation of Robert Cahlander, Police Chief, and hire Kenneth Jones as police officer, retroactive to June 1, 1958. Motion carried. Motion made by Russ Jones and seconded by Wayne Gageby that the Village Council authorize the purchase of two used vehicles and increase the mileage allowance to 70 per mile. Motion carried. The bills set forth on the schedule attached to these minutes and made a part hereof entitled "The Bills Audited and Ordered Paid at the Meeting of June 10, 1958" were audited and ordered paid.
